Dear JABBERS: Can you believe summer is almost over? I hope yours has been fun, exciting, and relaxing.

Cubs Game
Zameks at Cubs Game, Chicago

Mine has been busy, but a lot of fun. First, I am happy to report that I survived sleep-away camp! Oh - and as for my daughter - she loved it and wants to return next year! Even more surprisingly, my family of four not only survived, but thoroughly enjoyed a three-week, 3,000 mile road trip adventure to Chicago and back. The trip included camp, a Cubs Game, time with friends and family in Georgia, North Carolina and my birth city of Cincinnati, lunch at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, visits with Team JAB Chicago and Team JAB Atlanta, and a very special stop in Music City to meet the only other human being on the planet who shares my husband's name: Paul Zamek. And, no Zamek family trip would be complete without a series of minor mishaps along the way - the perfect complement to our Griswold "Vacation."

Despite a wonderful adventure filled with quality family time and hilarious moments that will surely be part of Zamek family lore, "home sweet home" has taken on a whole new meaning. After visiting eight states and driving 3,000 miles, I could not be happier to be home. I look forward to relaxing, reconnecting with our local JABBERS and watching the Olympics.

Happy summer and Happy JABBING!

-Boo

It Takes a Village
From Team JAB Melanie
Sometimes it really does take a village. Here at JAB, we love sharing stories that showcase the generosity and selflessness of others. When Melanie Gomez, an exceptional little girl who was born without eyes, was struggling to get the services that could help her thrive, a few amazing people and organizations stepped in to make it happen. When Melanie desperately needed to learn Braille, the Southern Poverty Law Center took on her case pro bono and made sure she received Braille and cane services in the public school system. Then the National Federation for the Blind stepped in and provided legal and expert services to the family to ensure she continues in a Braille program this school year. The help for Melanie didn't stop there! A Florida-based company, Digital Risk, led by Jeffrey Taylor, paid for Melanie and her mom to attend an intensive summer camp in Maryland for families in similar situations. With the support of so many people and the unwavering commitment of Melanie's family who fought for her every step of the way, Melanie is now enjoying a happy and healthy life - one filled with riding bikes and playing piano! A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in this touching story.

South Florida Market Update with EWM President, Ron Shuffield

Ashley Cusack, EWM RealtorsEWM Market Update July 2012

Ron Shuffield, President of EWM, sent out an update on the South Florida real estate market that is definitely worth sharing with everyone.  His video supports what I keep saying: we are really seeing this market strengthening. You'll note that his update is about the entire South Florida area, including Miami-Dade and Broward counties, so the prices you hear about in this video are lower than what you usually read about on my blog, but we are seeing these changes across the board, regardless of price. What a nice update to hear! To read more about the local real estate market, visit my blog HERE!*

I have two orphaned kittens who were rescued when they were just a few days old. I bottle fed them and have given them lots of love but now they need a new home. They are eight weeks old and have been dewormed, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and spayed! They are healthy, very playful, sweet as can be, and love people and dogs. They can be adopted together or individually. I just hope they find a forever home where they will be cared for and loved! Please let me know if you are looking for a prr-fect kitten.
