The Feeling of Freedom
From Team JAB
Fourth of July is a time for BBQs, picnics and time with family and friends. It's also a time for all things red, white and blue, when we commemorate our independence and show our patriotism. There is no greater time to show our support for our troops who risk their lives to preserve our hard-fought independence. One JABBER, Robin Ford, recently wrote to us about her experience on an American Airlines flight that inspired her to help. She says, "I flew from Miami to Atlanta for business and was joined in the seat next to me by a very young military man whom the crew upgraded. This sweet faced young soldier said a gentlemanly hello and settled in.  As I know very little about the career of an army man, I couldn't help striking up conversation. I learned so much about PFC Delano Stewart's sacrifice and commitment to our country and felt inspired by our conversation. I had him make a list of everything his platoon needed so I could round up my troops to send care packages." Robin said that PFC Stewart would love more care packages with magazines, letters, food, toiletries, protein shakes, etc. His address is: PFC Stewart, Delano, E.CO1-82 T F Wolf Pack, FOB Salerno, APO, AE 09314.

Another patriotic JABBER, Winnie Pritchett, founded iPads for Soldiers, a charitable fundraising operation of The C.H.R.I.S.  Foundation, collecting donations to purchase iPads for U.S. soldiers serving in Afghanistan. Recognizing that those serving in the more remote regions have no TV or cell phone, and no way to carry heavy books or computers in their 110-lb rucksacks, she decided to do something about it. To fill the need and to send a message of gratitude, iPads for soldiers started with a fundraiser and has expanded to visiting wounded warriors at Walter Reed, opening up a whole new realm of reality and needs of these brave Americans who have given so much. To donate to iPads for Soldiers, click HERE.

Thank you, JABBERS, for your continuous support and dedication to the troops who risk their lives every day to keep us safe and free. Happy Independence Day!

Aid for Ava Crowley Fundraising Event
From Kathleen Oliver:  REPLY
Ava Crowley is a vibrant, spirited and sweet little girl who turned three on May 18th and instead of enjoying her birthday like most kids her age, she spent the day in the hospital. Unfortunately Ava has been diagnosed with an advanced stage of aggressive childhood cancer: Stage IV Neuroblastoma. Ava is being treated for the high-risk cancer with six rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, stem cell therapy, radiation and immunotherapy over the next 9-12 months. She is the toughest three-year-old around and will beat this! But she and her family have many obstacles and will face overwhelming costs so they need your support. Please join us Saturday, July 21st at 7 pm at Anacapri restaurant in Coral Gables for a cocktail and hors d'oeuvres fundraising reception and silent auction featuring many exciting items like: rare and expensive wines, restaurant and hotel gift certificates, spa gift certificates, sporting event tickets, jewelry and unique works of art, and more! RSVP to Aid for Ava by clicking HERE or visit the website to make online donations HERE. We're also accepting auction items so please email me if you have anything to donate. Thank you for your support on behalf of Ava and the entire Crowley family.*
