"I'm from NYC, born and raised in the Bronx. I've always been interested in community development and recently served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Burkina Faso, West Africa. I worked at the local health clinic and saw how little control people had over their health, especially living in extreme poverty. I began teaching health, hygiene & self-awareness classes to young women so they  are empowered to affect their health in significant ways.

On a personal level, being in a foreign and challenging environment, it was important to take care of my own mental and physical health - as the two go hand in hand. I was able to draw on my yoga and meditation practices to keep myself healthy and centered. Now that I'm back, I'm looking for a job in public health and hope to pursue a Master's in Public Health because true health and wellness should be a right for every individual, not not a privilege. Next, I'd like to learn more about Ayurveda and Reiki. I'm committed to learning
about how my habits affect health - my own, that of others, and of the
planet."
