Le Mur de Je T'aime / The Wall of Love
Jazz speaks all languages, especially the language of love.

For this very special show, Kurt Elling joins with the great French master of jazz accordion Richard Galliano to explore the language of love in a journey around the world.

Kurt and Richard sing and play internationally famous ballads of love and loss in their original tongues -- English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. Whether you're a native speaker or not, the meaning is of the heart is clear.

For Passion World, they are joined by Kurt's musical director, pianist Laurence Hobgood, with Harish Raghavan on bass, Clarence Penn on drums, James Shipp on percussion, and Keith Ganz on guitar.

Kurt talks about this extraordinary collaboration in a short video

Watch Richard Galliano play Astor Piazzolla's Libertango on his Victoria accordion (5:19).
Galliano performs Piazzolla's Oblivion on the accordina at the North Sea Jazz Festival (3:49).

Passion World will be performed in 2010 four shows only, May 14-15, at 7:30 and 9:30 pm.  A limited number of tickets are still available from Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Sinatra, Basie and More:
Kurt Elling and the Legendary Count Basie Orchestra
SF Jazz Festival,
May 30, 2010

At the San Francisco Jazz Festival this year, Kurt Elling teams up with the Legendary Count Basie Orchestra to celebrate the music that the famed big band crafted with Frank Sinatra in the early 1960s.

Kurt and the current members of the late Basie band will be playing the original charts Quincy Jones arranged for those classic Sinatra/Basie sessions. And expect the Basie Orchestra to open up the night with some of their best classic repertoire.

Great and swingin' big band sounds from those golden years.  Some seats are still available.  Get your tickets today.

Here's the Count Basie Orchestra live in 2009 -- imagine Kurt singing with them in San Francisco!
