Data Designs Publishing Logo

Welcome to Data Designs Publishing's Quick News & Tips! Every so often we'll send these newsletters with short articles that help you manage and implement your latest marketing project. We promise...it won't take more than 8 minutes to read and you'll find something worthwhile in it! If you don't, please feel free to ask to be removed from our mailing list below.

Our goal is to provide friendly and helpful advice in bite-size pieces. If you want to take bigger bites, checkout our website. It's always a work in progress (which is a nice way of saying there's never quite as much info on the site as we'd like there to be), but even while under construction it provides lots of good info. If there's something you'd like to see us address here or on the website, drop us a note at info@DataDesignsPublishing.com.

Technology being what it is, let me apologize in advance for any glitches that might occur in this first issue. Please let us know if you have any problems receiving or reading it.

Thanks for spending a little time with us today!

Flash Drive with Data Designs Publishing Logo

Who doesn't need a flash drive? They can be reasonably priced when bought in quantity. (We recommend using Cherie Towler at On Time Promotions. She receives new pricing on flash drives every Monday.)

Put your logo on it AND a short interactive Acrobat application or Powerpoint presentation about your capabilities. Set the program to open when the disk is put into the user's USB port. Your name will be in front of your clients every time they use it.

Read the following article about Digital Brochures for more info on what you might include on your next flash drive giveaway.
Digital Brochures

Brochures made from dead trees are becoming a thing of the past. Why be stuck with static text and images when you can dazzle 'em with interactivity and a host of multimedia options?

Data Designs Publishing can help you create a digital brochure that can be distributed on CD, on a flash drive (see the other piece in this newsletter about using flash drives as promotional gifts), or - if you restrain yourself from all the possible bells and whistles - via email.

Digital brochures have text, graphics, and photos like a paper brochure, but they can also contain hyperlinks, video, and more.

Use a digital brochure to showcase your business, inform prospects of the services you offer, or roll out a new line of products.

We would love to talk with you about the possibilities of using a digital brochure to catch the eye of your customer base and fire up their imagination. Give us a call at (419) 660-0500.
Nifty Program Alert - LetterMeLater.com

LetterMeLater Logo

I've absolutely fallen in love with a website that offers the capability to write an e-mail that isn't sent until some time in the future. I've been asking for this for years. Finally Maggie, our office manager, found it for me. A free account allows you to schedule up to 30 e-mails a month. For $19.95, you can upgrade to 400 e-mails a month. Now when I tell someone I'll get back to them in a few months about something specific, I can write the e-mail immediately, while all the specifics are still in my mind, then schedule it to send on the appropriate date. If I want, I can have LetterMeLater send me a preview copy of the e-mail 3 days before it is scheduled to be sent to the recipient. That allows me to edit the e-mail if things have changed since I wrote it. I love this program! Click on their logo to check it out.
Adobe Software Upgrade Specials

CS4 Promo Logo

Have you gotten behind in your Adobe software upgrades? Many users got on the InDesign bandwagon when Adobe released Creative Suite 2 (CS2) a couple of years ago, but didn't go for the upgrade from CS2 to CS3. Since the release of the new CS4 packages this past fall, Adobe has discontinued selling the CS3 line, but they're offering a great deal for users who want to upgrade from CS2 directly to CS4.

Until February 28, 2009, you can get a "leapfrog" upgrade from CS2 to CS4 Design Standard (which includes InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat 9 Pro, Adobe Bridge, Adobe Device Central, and Version Cue) for only $499, which is the same price as users going from CS3 to CS4. After February 28, the price will go up $200 for people who leap from CS2 to CS4.

Do you need to add some website design muscle to your desktop publishing toolbox? If so, consider the upgrade to CS4 Design Premium. This collection includes everything from CS4 Design Standard, plus Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, and the Extended edition of Photoshop (which has great 3D image creation and animation features not available in the standard edition). Adobe's leapfrog upgrade special applies to this collection as well. Until February 28, 2009, the price to upgrade from CS2 to CS4 Design Premium is only $599. This is a HUGE upgrade from CS2 that gives you a ton of state-of-the-art software for the price of one stand-alone application. Prices jump to $799 after this special expires, so get it while the getting is good.

Beginner Tips on Rulers:
* Toggle the rulers on and off with cntrl+R
* Change the unit of measure on the ruler by right clicking it. You must individually change the horizontal and vertical rulers. Is this a benefit? You decide! It allows you use different units of measure on the two axis, but requires two steps to change both. We've never wanted to change only one, so it's not a benefit to us
