Future AQHYA Leaders Gather in Amarillo

Six FQHYA Members joined
another 195  youth from around the Unites States at the 2010 AQHYA Convention and Youth Excellence Seminar in Amarillo, Tx.  Jordan Boyd, Katie Brim, Bailey Martin, Sarah Rolfes, Emily Smith & Samantha Usoff spent 2-1/2 days meeting AQHYA candidates, working with AQHA & attending Team and Leadership building seminars.

This year Region 10 will be represented by three directors Britt Lynch from Georgia, Danielle Taylor from North Carolina and Jordan Boyd from Florida - seen pictured here with Ward Stutz the AQHYA Youth Advisor. .Region 10 directors

Attending the Conference is a very educational experience. Not only do you work with cool people - you are introduced to the whole AQHA scene and you meet and have fun with youth from all over the country.

These friendships carry on throughout the year at the shows you attend and through Facebook of course.  I have seen this personally and feel everyone should really consider trying to attend.  This year FQHYA was able to raise enough money to send these six girls with little expense out of pocket (plane tickets, hotel and registration fees were paid by FQHYA).

I would love to see 12 youth attend next year...and see what really makes our organization tick!

Check out more photos from the trip...this is an unedited album - so you get to see drooling sleeping pictures and ??? After Youth World  we will get the pictures up on the FQHA website
 TEAM CHALLENGE
               NO. 5

 boot
There was a tie between the Yellow Team and the Blue Team.
So the tie breaker will be:
The first member of either team (Yellow or Blue) that can tell me what TEAM Challenge No 5 was wins a $20 Gift Card to Target for every Team Member on their team regardless of whether they participated or not.

It is a known fact that meetings are boring...but I saw something at our June meetings...I saw sharing of ideas, of rooms, bathrooms and laughter.  Youth were working together for a common goal. Something else I really like is the emails, texts and facebook messages I am getting asking "What can I do at youth world to help?"

I would like to get together with any of the Board of Directors and Officers that are in Oklahoma City and go over some plans for future events, fundraising, Congress Team and something fun that all the Youth can do together.

So get ready to meet and share!
Dear Youth World Qualifiers, FQHYA Members and Parents,

We are just a few days from heading to Oklahoma City with 31 Youth and 41 horses.  And I think I am probably as excited as all of you combined.

For those of you who have been on the road and weren't involved in all the planning I want to get you up to speed....

When the theme for the Youth World was announced, Arena of Dreams, I envisioned a Disney World sort of thing, fairies, dream clouds, bubbles, children running into the arena in pajamas with their pillows....but at the first planning meeting we held at Laurel Valley Ranch on June 12th, members discussed ideas and voted on using a Baseball theme (Field of Dreams - "If you build it they will come" kind of thing)...needless to say this is how I felt...

I know nothing about baseball...except that bubbles and fairy wings weren't going to work in this plan -  How were we going to do this and be able to be as awesome as we were last year?  We have a "Title" to defend....but thanks to the help and clever minds of our wonderful moms and dads...I am beginning to feel the thrill of a Grand Slam! (Bear with me - I have learned a lot about baseball in the past month and intend to share it with you right or wrong :)
              baseball boy and girl

So my dear young friends you are baseball players...in an Arena of Dreams..."Oklahoma Built it Florida Came!" To Kick some Butt! (this part isn't actually in the skit - just part of my pep talk).

You have some "interesting" costumes - not as good as Fairy wings and bubble wands but unique all the same.  Your skit will be like no other and we need everyone to participate.  (Rehearsal and costume fittings will be Sunday afternoon)  So stand by for some fun.  The Parade of Teams is Monday night at 6:30.

I need everyone (if you haven't already) to send me an
8 x 10 photo of you and your horse - preferably a head shot - remember you are a baseball player - it will go on the "Stat" Card on your stall.

I also need some smaller photos that I can copy or send them to me digitally and I can print them - I need good shots of your faces so that I can cut them out for the Baseball Arena wall.

AND I would love photos of your parents - I need them for the VIP Boxes of the Arena.  As they are "very important people" in your life and should be recognized.

Grand slam

Florida has also entered a pair of Wrangler Jeans (Thank you Katie Brim & Tess Stephenson and helpers) and a Justin Boot (Thank you Melissa Forte & Carleigh Beatus). These items will be donated to the silent auction which benefits the AQHA Scholarship Program.

Billy Williams - Night Watch - has offered his services for $15 a horse for the entire show - if everyone will agree to do it. (It is an all or none kind of deal - so everyone please really consider this valuable service).  If you are interested please let me know and I will give him a call and let him know how many tot
