2010 Yth World LogoHi Everyone,

There is so much happening in the next three months and information to share - that I feel like I am writing a book. So everyone try and make sure you at least read the headlines so that you get an idea of what is going on.   Ms. Melissa will put this newsletter on the "Youth" page of FQHA so that you can refer to it for reminders.

Youth Meeting/Party -
             "All" FQHYA Members are invited
Party & Black & White
There will be a Youth Meeting/Party/ Sleepover on the weekend of June 12 at Laurel Valley Ranch in Sarasota and another one on June 17th in Sebring.

All youth who would like to participate are welcome to join us on either or (preferably) both weekends.   We will be working on the FQHYA Scrapbook, (so bring lots of pictures with you) coming up with Youth World Theme ideas (which is "Arena of Dreams") for the stall decorations and skit, making plans for the remainder of the year including the Congress NYATT Team plans and a fun activity for later in the year that will also include the youth who wont be participating at either the Youth World or the Congress  NYATT Team this year and of course just hanging out and relaxing.

Both weekends will be FREE to FQHYA members.  The accommodations at LVR are a 3 bedroom apartment as well as the main house - and will be chaperoned by myself (Kathy Boyd) as well as Ms. Tracy Shoe, (Assistant Youth Advisor) and any parents that wish to participate.

For the weekend of  June 17th we will be reserving rooms at the Inn on the Lakes in Sebring for our youth members. Moms are welcome - but we will be booking this as a "Slumber Party" so please be prepared to share a room with other youth and maybe not get the best night of sleep.

Ms. Tracy has kindly offered rides to youth from the East Coast - so don't let transportation keep you from joining us.  If you need a ride give her a call at 772-834-3980 or text Kylie.  And of course same goes for kids from the West Coast give me a call 941-377-6226 and we will help arrange transportation for you.  I am working on the north part of the state - so call me if you are  interested and I will let you know if there is anyone coming from that area that you could catch a ride with.

Youth World Participants
morgan world showI have sent out emails to all the Florida Youth who have Nationally or State Qualified for the 2010 Youth World Championship in Oklahoma City.  Everyone that Nationally Qualified should have or will be getting their packets from AQHA very soon.  As soon as you receive it - please complete and send it to me as soon as possible.  Do not send money at this time - I will let you know if you owe.

If you are State Qualified I will be confirming this information AGAIN!

I will post the finalized list of World Show participants on the FQHA website the first week of June.  Please check to make sure you are in the classes we discussed or that you think you should be in - remember as per your "Letter of Intent" it is your responsibility to make sure I know that you will be attending the Youth World and what classes you should be participating in.

I have encouraged FQHYA Members to seek sponsorships to help pay their expenses to attend the 2010 Youth World.  FQHA is not a 501c 3 organization which doesn't allow an individual or business to write off their donation.  Please before you become discouraged and lose a possible donor - drop me an email or give me a call and let's talk about other possible ideas for this very generous person.  I just spent some time with a Certified Public Accountant who suggested a couple of ideas that may be used by a person willing to help you out.

Other Youth World Contests

boot FQHYA Members - remember there are other activities that are offered by AQHYA at the 2010 Youth Championship Show for Youth to participate in...The Scrapbook Contest, The Speech Contest, The Talent Show, The Justin Boot Decorating Contest, and The Wrangler Jean Decorating Contest.

FQHYA needs someone to volunteer to represent Florida in these events.  If you are interested please email or call me so we can get you all the information (also check it out at www.AQHA.org ) you will need to be successful to compete in these contests.

FQHYA Members we have 5 (five) Teams - Red & White, Red, Yellow, Blue & Orange....

I am wondering what is going on with the other 3 teams. I think it is time for you guys to make a plan..."Divide and Conquer" and make yourselves known.

The Red & White and the Red Team have had a couple of good shopping moments with their winnings...

So let's get off the couch, shut off Facebook and put down your telelphone...put on your boots and get busy.  You "have" been contributing and not shabbily either...but we need to raise the bar and not let the Red & White Team and the Red Team win the next Team Challenges.  They are getting the "bonuses" for just a few more dollars or sales.

We have several really good and easy Fundraisers going on right now.  Take 15 minutes each day to manage them - it is not only good for your association but it will benefit you personally by helping you accumulate funds to help pay for your horse show expenses.

Between now and May 31st - remind as many people as possible to take the Responsible Sports Quiz (www.responsiblesports.com) - this is an easy way for FQHYA to
possibly earn a $2,500 grant.

What an incredibly easy and profitable fundraiser this was.  I visited Insignia Bank, they have a machine and didn't charge us  to cash in the 5 gallon water jug full of coins.  It was very exciting all the clerks and the bank manager came out to see how much it held....we were all very surprised when we reached $1,001.87, my friend Heather added the .13 to make it  $1,002.00.

So because this was so easy and profitable

Team Challenge No. 9
Auctioneer
Team Challenge No. 8 will be supporting
               "FQHYA's Ebay".

This fundraiser will benefit all participating parties.  We will be designing a page on the FQHA Website known as "FQHYA EBay".  You and people you encourage to participate can consign or donate items to be sold on our own online auction sight.  The items can be anything - it does not have to be horse related...but it should be in good condition and something people will want to purchase.  We will allow each item to be online for 7 days and then it will need to be re-submitted for auction if it doesn't sell or the bid price doesn't reach the minimum bid.

This will be an easy fundraiser and can go on forever.  The participant must submit a photo of the item, a brief description, the minimum bid they will accept, their contact information and the FQHYA Team Member who will receive credit for the sale. If a youth member isn't listed to receive credit funds will be put into the Youth's General Operating Account.

Sale Conditions and Rules:

For Consigned Items:  FQHYA will receive a 20% consignment fee for selling the item.  The FQHYA Team member who was listed to receive the credit will earn 10% of the sale to be logged on their FQHYA Activity Log and funds to be used to help pay for Horse Show related expenses for that Team Member. Consignor will be responsible for making sure the item is received by the winning bidder.

For Donated Items:  FQHYA will receive a 100% of the sale.  The FQHYA Team member who was listed to receive credit will earn 50% of the net sale to be logged on their FQHYA Activity Log and funds to be used to help pay for Horse Show related expenses for that Team Member.  FQHYA will be responsible for making sure the item is received by the winning bidder.

The "FQHYA Ebay" site will be updated each day by a designated time and all auctions will start on a designated day (day and time to be determined by Ms. Melissa who will be managing the site).

We will open the "FQHYA EBay" on June 7th - you can start emailing me Kathy@Laurelvalleyranch.com  the photos, description, minimum bid and contact information on items you  have outgrown, don't use any longer or need.  This is an awesome way to earn personal money and "HORSE SHOW" money too.

Team Members will be rewarded every 60 days for their participation and earnings. Individuals will receive credit immmediately upon receipt of payment for the auctioned item.

A Few Youth Minutes
alarm clock
I have given everyone a lot of opportunities  with the above list of fundraisers...I'm not expecting everyone to run out and sell everything - but choose a couple and put a few minutes everyday into helping your organization and more importantly "your family" who has chosen to support you in this very expensive hobby!  These are all easy and most can be done from your bedroom on your laptop, Facebook or telephone.

Okay I think I am done....keep thinking I am forgetting something!  But I will see everyone soon so will be able to share then.

I am really looking forward to our meeting/parties next month, the summer, Oklahoma City and all the new things we are going to plan for the rest of the year.

Keep up the good work everyone and thank you parents for all of your support and ideas they are really starting to pay off.
