Hi Everyone,

 

Sorry I am a bit late with the newsletter...we have been trying to get all the dates nailed down and projects lined out.

 

I want to remind everyone to make sure your 2010 FQHYA dues are paid - we don't want anyone to lose their points. If you aren't sure please check with Ms. Melissa We had 70 members in 2009 and our current membership roster shows 39.

 

We are right in the middle of our Penny Drive (Team Challenge No. 2) - hope everyone has their jar out on the counter so that all the change gets dumped in there every night.  You can also ask your neighborhood businesses if you can sit a jar on their counter with a label on it - asking for Support for FQHYA.  This is one of the easiest fund raisers we have ever done...we will have a "Money Pit" at the BarBQue on April 24th where everyone will dump their money into it.  Remember the Team that collects the most change will also be winning a prize.

 
Team Challenge No. 3 is the Free Stall Raffle. Remember to take your tickets with you to the upcoming shows and sell them to people who will be attending the April 23-25th show.  Everyone that has been assigned to a Team should have received their tickets - if you haven't please email Kathy and she will mail you your tickets.   If you haven't been assigned to a team let her know and she will get you on a team.  Every member of the winning team wins a prize for the highest selling team. Tickets are $5 each or 6 for $25.
 
Team Challenge No. 4 (I know everyone has been waiting with bated breath for No. 4).  It is the sale of our BarBQue Tickets.  Kathy will be mailing these out the first of next week.  Remember to take them with you to upcoming shows and encourage and invite people to plan on participating in all the fun events that will be going on during our BarBQue and Family Night. You as an FQHYA member will receive $2.50 of every ticket you sell on your FQHYA Activity Log! 
March 20, 2010 - FQHYA Trail Ride

Our next FUNdraiser and it will be a lot of FUN is the FQHYA Trail Ride at the Diamond T Ranch in Hobe Sound on Saturday March 20th.  Enjoy 2,800 acres on horseback and view our native wildlife up close. The cost is $50 which includes a BarBQue Lunch. There will be raffles and door/gate prizes galore. Don't miss out on this fun time. For stall and hotel availability contact Tracy Shoe 772-341-6729.  Please call ahead - so that they can get a good count for the BBQ.

April 1, 2010 - Youth World Funding Application Due
 

The deadline for the Youth World Show Assistance Fund offered by the Fields Family Foundation and the Jackson Land & Cattle Company is coming up.  If you have not filled out this form do so now.  The deadline is April 1st. According to Ms. Linda - last year every youth that applied received something.  You can find the application on the FQHYA News Page  under "Youth World Funding Assistance".

 
April 2, 2010 - FQHA Awards Banquet
 

 

 

The FQHA Awards Banquet will be held this year on Friday, April 2nd in Venice during the Easter Circuit.  I want to remind everyone that we will again be holding our Chinese Auction.  We have some really nice donations coming in but we really want to make this an awesome fundraiser.  Remember the better the item the more money everyone earns toward their personal goal. Items that were high sellers at the New Year's Eve Party were the baskets (doggie, seasonal, wine & cheese), attraction tickets, brand name clothes, the Ed Harvey sunglasses (without saying were a big hit) and jewelry.  I bet if we could get someone to donate some type of electronic devices they would also be very popular. If you need a letter to give to potential donors visit the FQHYA News page there is a sample letter that you can change to fit your needs.  If you need a copy of the non-profit status of FQHA to supply to the donor Kathy or Ms. Melissa can send that to you. If you have questions or a donation please email Jordan Boyd  and let her know.  If you can let her know the items that you have we will start advertising them so that everyone will know what will be available at the auction - we want to prime our bidders.

April 24, 2010 - FQHYA BarBQue & Family Night
   

The FQHYA BarBQue & Family Night will be on April 24th at Triple J Arena in Sarasota. 

 

A lot of exciting things are happening this weekend:

*This show will be double pointed.
*Members (get your membership paid) will receive
    a 5% discount on their stall.
*This is the last weekend for qualifying for Youth World and it will be a great fundraising
weekend for the Youth.  
 
The youth are planning:
*A Team Tournament
*A Cow Chip Bingo Contest
*The BarBQue
*A Bake Sale including S'more Fixings for 
  Campfire time.
*Drawing for the Free Stall,
*Youth will empty the proceeds from 
   the Penny Drive
 into the "Money Pit".
*Turn in your Letter of Intent and $10
   (which you will receive a $5 credit on your FQHYA
   Activity Log)

*The youth will be running and receiving all
   the proceeds from  the concession stand   
   (please contact Ms. Shoe 772-834-3980 or 
 email her
 
    for  donations and to volunteer to help her out
    in your free time)
*And other fun activities that are still in the
    planning and permission stages.
New Happenings & Reminders

We have implemented an "Association Service Hour" program.  FQHYA will give youth credit for every hour they work for an organization that has been approved by the Youth Advisors.  We have received permission from Twin Rivers Saddle Club, Ms. Kim at Foxlea Farm and the shows that Ms. Peg manages. Not only will this give youth that aren't comfortable with selling and asking for donations other ways to earn money to help out with their horse expenses it will give them valuable work experience and help out other organizations that could use the "free" help. If you are interested in being part of this program contact Ms. Shoe for opportunities at Twin River Saddle Club or Kathy for opportunities with Ms. Kim or Ms. Peg.  If you live outside of these areas and know of organizations that could use FQHYA's help please let Kathy know who is in charge of the club or association and she can contact them to see if they would be willing to participate in this program.

 

After visiting the FQHYA News page on the website and seeing our new look...please feel free to offer information and pictures to make it even more informative, helpful and fun. Send Kathy pictures, Congratulations, Happy Birthday wishes and suggestions ... We are also still using our FQHY News page on Facebook.  There are Discussions posted for all fundraising events and Team activities - please feel free to join if you haven't and if you have any questions...you maybe able to find the answers there - if not you can ask and you know how we Facebookers are - we are quick to respond to a Facebook post.
