| Will the AVN be silenced? |

Today, the AVN received a copy of a complaint which has been lodged with the NSW Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC)
by an individual who has previously expressed directly to the AVN their disagreement with our views.
The complaint alleges that both the AVN and myself, Meryl Dorey, are "health service providers" because we are "providing health education services to the public" for the purposes of the Health Care Complaints Act 1993 (NSW)
The complainant asks that:
The HCCC issue a Prohibition Order to silence both myself and the AVN and prevent us from publishing information about vaccination or related health issues. It claims that we do not have the right to free speech under the Constitution of Australia and asks that the HCCC issue a public statement that the AVN poses a risk to public health and safety.
At the present time, the AVN is seeking legal advice and will be providing the HCCC with our written response to the complaint before the end of August 2009. Neither the AVN nor Meryl Dorey are "health practitioners" as the term is generally understood colloquially nor have we ever claimed to be.
We do not dispense either treatment or advice, we just try to disseminate information about health issues and to inject some balance into the debate so that people can make informed choices that best suit their particular needs.
It is important that in the present climate where the spectre of
compulsory vaccination is a real threat, we do our best to protect the rights we have and prevent those who would restrict or take them away completely from doing so. This complaint is a symptom of those efforts and I do not believe that it is coincidental that it has occurred at the present time.

Last week, Meryl Dorey was guest speaker at a webinar hosted by Dr Mayer Eisenstein. More than 400 people registered for this talk and we here at the AVN would really like to thank Dr Eisenstein for his generous offer of a virtual venue so we could talk to those who attended about the risks inherent with vaccination and the current situation in Australia. The webinar is archived here and you can download it if you'd like to hear for yourself.
Dr Eisenstein has a very large practice in Chicago, Illinois in the US that is famous (or infamous to those in the mainstream medical profession) for having no children with autism. He says that this is because he does not vaccinate. I think he may be on to something there, don't you?
We hope to have Dr Eisenstein on as a guest speaker at one of our up-coming webinars and Meryl will be doing a follow-up Q & A session as well so if you want to know about the schedule for those talks, please watch this space!

The role of Chiropractic
There are many factors that contribute to the diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and related conditions, which can be part of learning difficulties, other behavioural issues and/or just generally compromised health.
The chiropractic perspective is to investigate which of the structural, biochemical, and stress factors are involved which may contribute to the cause.
One of the key issues is a lack of focus and concentration in an otherwise bright and creative child (or adult). This can often be from cranial faults (ie the bones in the head) and/or stress and/or toxicity, causing subsequent neurotransmitter imbalances and structural faults that can affect eye tracking etc.
Neurotransmitters are chemicals in the nervous system which make the nerves work properly and toxicity can prevent the enzymes from converting substances to their active form in order to make this happen.
The child (or adult) may be in constant "fight or flight" which can cause many immune system problems which may actually be the patients main symptoms.
This seminar will give you an idea of where to start in terms of what your child might need and show some of the many options available to parents for any child to realise their potential, no matter what their symptoms.

New York State makes flu shots compulsory despite nurses opposition
The New York State Nurses Association has strongly opposed a regulation that would require every healthcare worker in the state to be immunized for influenza.
...In its testimony, the association called the council's action a "scorched earth" approach. "While we encourage nurses to be immunized for the flu, we do not agree that nurses should be required to get immunizations as a condition of employment," said Eileen Avery, RN, associate director of the association's Education, Practice & Research Program. "The seasonal flu vaccine is not 100 percent effective and sometimes is highly ineffective, as it was in 2005 and 2007," Avery said. "There is no guarantee that in any given year, the public will benefit from mandatory immunization of healthcare providers." Click here to read more

Will H1N1 Vax Contain Thimerosal (Mercury)? ABC News Answers.
This is a still shot from an ABC News story: Study: Pregnant Women Hospitalized More Often For Swine Flu of Panavax, an H1N1 vaccine currently in testing (there are several.) The label indicates that this is a multi-dose vial containing Thimerosal used as a preservative. Click the photo to enlarge it. I have Googled Panavax and can not find any info, other than domain name registration to Sanofi Aventis. We present this to you as an "FYI" as info about H1N1 and vaccination options come in, so that you can make informed healthcare choices for yourself and your family.
