Channel 7 - Sunday Night Program
As you might recall, last week, Channel 7's Sunday Night program headed up by Mike Munro and Chris Bath (not Mike Carlson as I said in my last email - sorry!) aired a show about vaccination which:
- Called for vaccines to be made compulsory
- Accused unvaccinated children of spreading disease
- Stopped just short of calling parents who didn't vaccinate murderers.
Using the tragic death of Dana McCaffery from whooping cough as a platform for vilifying the unvaccinated, Sunday Night's team spoke of killers walking the streets (the unvaccinated, germ spreading disease carriers) and poison in the air of the North Coast of NSW (where supposedly 1/3 of the children are unvaccinated and their breath is a health hazard).
A poll running on the Channel 7 web site asked the question, "Do you think vaccinating your child should be compulsory?"
Immediately following the show, the results of this poll were 75% in favour of mandatory vaccination and 25% against.
Due to you, our members, supporters and others who care about people's rights to choose whether or not they submit to a medical procedure they feel could be harmful to their children or themselves, the current poll results are shown below:

As you can see, there has been a total turn-around in the results of this poll and Channel 7 has seen this too.
Last week, I called for you to write in to Channel 7 to complain about the one-sided and biased nature of this program. You did a great job of doing just that.
As a result, Channel 7 has decided to run another program about the vaccination issue this Sunday. On Saturday, they will be holding a forum in their Sydney studios with Prof Peter McIntyre (pro-vaccine) and Dr Giselle Cook (pro-choice).
Prof McIntyre has just been given a grant of almost $2.5 million to study the safety and immunogenicity of vaccinating newborn babies. One shudders to think about who will be volunteering their children for such an insane purpose - and whether they will even be informed that their children are part of a study? He was recently quoted on ABC Radio as stating that the whooping cough vaccine cannot prevent either infection with or carriage of pertussis bacteria - a bizarre thing for someone who blames the unvaccinated for spreading disease to say.
Dr Giselle Cook is a long-time proponent of a parent's right to choose whether or not they want to vaccinate their children. At one time, the AMA attempted to strike her off for giving 'too much information' out about vaccines. She also took Channel 9 to court several years ago regarding a hatchet job they did on her much like the treatment our issue received last week from Channel 7. She is a passionate, informed and articulate proponent for free health choice.
This program has only happened because of your letters and efforts so, congratulations! On the promo for this episode (
click here to view), Mike Munro is walking down the street in Sydney holding a pile of papers and saying that he has received thousands of letters from parents about last week's program and this week, they will be challenging the experts.
When I have told you in the past that you are all powerful, most of you didn't believe me. Now, you can see - literally see - your own power.
You did this! But it's not time to stop now. If you haven't already written in to Channel 7, please do so. Especially if your child has been affected by vaccines. Send pictures - send your story - let them know that a child injured or killed by vaccines is every bit as important as a child who is injured or killed by disease. Make your children's experience known so that others don't have to suffer in the same way.
Please be sure to add my email address onto your letter - just cc
meryl@avn.org.au - and if you would like to get some ideas of what to say, I have put the emails that have been forwarded to me up on the web site - you can see them by

If you have already written in yourself, get your partner to write a letter. And if you haven't yet voted in the poll, just click on the poll image above and have your say there as well.
