A personal fund-raising appeal |
|
About 18 months ago, a very generous donor who listened to me speak at the Nexus conference, heard my plea for financial help and gave the AVN a very generous donation. That money along with several smaller financial gifts which have been given to us over the last year or so, has kept us going from that time until the present and we have used this money sparingly and (we hope) wisely to help advance the issues of health rights and to lobby against legislation that would take those rights away. Those funds paid for our trip to Sydney with several other organisations to try and overturn the NSW Health policy stating that nurses and other hospital staff needed to be vaccinated; it helped us obtain legal support for the family in Sydney running away from DoCS because they didn't want to give their newborn child the Hep B vaccine; it helped us to distribute and generate vaccination information across Australia and to put on local seminars in several areas of NSW and QLD as well as just helping with the day-to-day expenses of this organisation which does such good work on an absolute shoestring. Unfortunately however, those funds are now well and truly gone and we are staring down the barrel of the 'closing down' gun. I realise that the economy is tough for everyone right now, but if you feel that the work done by the AVN and the information distributed by Living Wisdom should continue, I really need to ask you to look at not just whether you can give us some support - but how much support you can give. A $10 monthly donation is something that most people could manage and if only 20 or 30 of you came forward to say you would do this, it would make a huge difference. The need is urgent and immediate - not next month or next year. The AVN is really hurting and if you believe in what we're doing (and if you're reading this, chances are that you do), then right now, before you do anything else, either pick up the phone and call us on 02 6687 1699 to pledge a donation, deposit funds to our Westpac account (AVN Fund Raising Account, BSB 032591 Account number 229283) being sure to leave your name as identification or visit our web site - www.avn.org.au to donate on our secure server. However you choose to do it, please donate today! Thanks so much, Meryl Dorey

UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute Study Shows California's Autism Increase Not Due To Better Counting, Diagnosis (notice the avoidance of the "V" word in this report) A study by researchers at the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute has found that the seven- to eight-fold increase in the number children born in California with autism since 1990 cannot be explained by either changes in how the condition is diagnosed or counted - and the trend shows no sign of abating. Published in the January 2009 issue of the journal Epidemiology, results from the study also suggest that research should shift from genetics to the host of chemicals and infectious microbes in the environment that are likely at the root of changes in the neurodevelopment of California's children. A report published Monday in the journal Pediatrics charges the author of a popular book for parents on childhood vaccines with stoking fears about vaccine safety and misrepresenting the science behind the nation's immunization policy. "The Vaccine Book: Making the Right Decision for Your Child" was published last year by Dr. Robert Sears, son of the well-known Capistrano Beach pediatrician and author William Sears. In a scathing critique not often seen in a pediatric journal, vaccine expert Paul A. Offit and coauthor Charlotte A. Moser say the book misrepresents science; supports delaying, withholding or spacing out vaccines; endorses the concept of natural immunity through such methods as chickenpox parties; does not distinguish between solid science and poorly conducted studies; and commits several errors of fact. "In an effort to protect children from harm, Sears' book will likely put more in harm's way," Offit and Moser write. Click here to read more
Merck seeks to market Gardasil to males Please note - we predicted this 12 months ago and regulators and government officials we spoke with about it scoffed. But the fact is that Big Pharma will make money in any way they can and if 50% of the population were to escape this shot, they would consider that money down the drain. Look to see outbreaks of 'mass hysteria' in teenage boys in the coming months just as we saw with teenage girls... Drugmaker Merck asked federal regulators to approve use in males for its vaccine against the human papillomavirus, which causes cervical and other sexually transmitted cancers. The application was submitted in late December, Merck spokeswoman Amy Rose said Tuesday. It was long planned as part of the Whitehouse Station company's strategy to increase the market for Gardasil. It prevents infection with the sexually transmitted virus and thus cancers of the genital organs. Click here to read more
Beyond Thiomersal - a video presentation by Dr David Ayoub
So, you thought that mercury was the only toxic ingredient to worry about in vaccinations and that now that it has supposedly been removed, you had nothing much to worry about? Think again! This excellent presentation by Dr Ayoub talks about the Aluminium found in vaccines - as much as 225mcg in the HPV vaccines - and the long list of problems associated with this ingredient. A free download - invite your friends around to listen to it and forward this link to anyone who would like to know more about why vaccinations are so toxic. Click here to read more

Spreading the word - the easy way! |
|
Sometimes, an idea is so obvioius you wonder why you never thought of it first. This is one of those ideas - simple, effective and inexpensive. Our struggle has been to spread the word about vaccines and the problems they can cause. The media won't cover this issue, we have no funds for advertising and those who most need this information - young families, the elderly and those working in the medical community - don't even know that we exist or that vaccinations can be linked with any adverse effects. In the US, a family has turned their semi-trailer into a billboard for awareness about the link between vaccinations and autism (see One Big Rig). They have gotten a wonderful response with thousands of people asking questions, finding out details and becoming active and involved as a result of this one vehicle. That got me thinking...why couldn't we do the same thing here in Australia? Now, not many of us have semi-trailers, but most of us have cars and we all have bodies, right? So, why not take advantage of these spaces and help to spread the word - especially since it doesn't cost an arm and a leg and can really raise awareness? Alyson Pearson, our fantastic Art Director, has designed T-Shirts for both Living Wisdom and the AVN that you can proudly wear to let others know a bit about this subject and about our organisations. Want people to ask you questions? There are T-Shirt designs that will help them do that. Would you rather not get involved in any discussions? Well, there are T-Shirts that will just advertise the AVN and Living Wisdom - both good things. The shirts are all very high-quality cotton and they come in short sleeve, long sleeve, v-neck and tight-fitting so no matter what your figure or needs, you will find something to look great in. I know because I just bought 2 myself! You can see the range at the great Australian web site - RedBubble and a small percentage of the proceeds will go towards supporting the AVN too so it's a real win-win situation. In addition, we are currently investigating the possibility of creating a range of car stickers / magnets / vinyl electrostatic displays to help us turn our cars into big rigs too. The prices of these stickers will range from as low as $2 each so they won't break the bank. We really need your input on this project though. Are you willing to put stickers on your car? Would you want to suggest wording for some of these stickers / magnets (Alyson will design them for you and we are not limited to one or two designs - we can certainly have several). This is an interactive project so please feel free to suggest whatever happens to come to your mind about this.
