Has your teen recently taken up an interest in the gardening department of Home Depot or your local grocery store? Flower and garden stores have noticed a trend in teens purchasing morning glory seeds, but not for the reasons you would think.
This new trend involves teens chewing and swallowing the seeds for a hallucinogenic high due to chemical called Lysergic Acid Amide (LSA); the same chemical used to make Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, commonly known as LSD. Stay active in your teen's life this summer! Unmonitored teens are four times more likely to use substances or engage in other risky behaviors 1. Talk to them about the dangers of abusing chemicals, set clear family rules regarding substance use and be consistent.
