Autumnal Equinox Celebration
September 23, 10:30 a.m. ASSEMBLY: The Apple Harvest: Meaning, Metaphor and Myth
Welcome the arrival of autumn - a time to enjoy the fruits of summer labor and plan for the contemplative winter to come. We'll celebrate the apple and explore how it is woven into our cultural psyche both as sustenance and symbol. The children will lead the fall festival procession and be greeted by "Granny" Smith. Additional fabled "apple" characters will reflect on the humanist and UU perspectives that we bring to the harvest season. Remember to bring nonperishable food items for a collection for local food shelves. A luncheon will follow the Assembly. Visit the Seasonal Celebrations page on the FUS website from more information, or drop by the Seasonal Celebrations table at coffee hour in September.

Update on the "Foundation Membership Project"
The first serious activity associated with the newly funded Membership Growth Grant Project will be a meeting with the key principals next week. The original proposals (prior to revision) can be found on the FUS website under the Foundation page, along with the funding as revised and approved by the Foundation Board. Once the members of the review committee have more specific actions and plans to report, we can expect updates on the FLASH approximately every 60 days for the coming year. We are truly excited and hopeful that this project will make a very significant change in the recruitment and retention of members at FUS!
