10:30 a.m. ASSEMBLY: "Psalms for UUs"
Speaker: Anne Supplee. The psalms are an ancient form of worship - individual and communal. Pleas for help, sustenance and safety and praise for divine love and protection abound. There are psalms to safeguard soldiers in battle, psalms of anguish and grief, songs of praise and gratitude. Join us as we explore this rich tradition and take a stab at writing our own psalms from a Humanist perspective.

Summer Adult Education Classes
Beyond Guilt: Toward a constructive Anti-Racism awareness Leader: Luke Stevens-Royer Wednesdays August 1 and August 8, 7:00 p.m. Unitarian Universalists have a strong history of "Standing on the side of love," working against many forms of oppression to create a more just and equitable world. Yet systemic oppression continues today covertly in the social psyche. The sessions will include a sociological analysis of racism and religion, Unitarian Universalist history around issues of race, reflection on individual's personal experience, understanding of modern racism, and approaches for individuals and institutions to constructively confront racism. The sessions relate to each other, but each class is "stand alone" so participants may attend as many sessions as they like. Scroll through the calendar for a description of each session.
