This Sunday,

May 27

10:30 a.m. ASSEMBLY: "To Meet The Asking Years"

Speaker: Rev. Dr. Kendyl Gibbons. The late UU minister Forrest Church said that "The goal is to live in such a way that our lives will prove worth dying for. The one thing that can't be taken from us, even by death, is the love we give away before we go." Parents and teachers throughout the ages have attempted to leave moral advice and wisdom for their heirs, in the form of ethical wills, or more modern legacy letters. How do we think about the legacy we choose to leave in the world when our own lives are over? How intentional can we be, and what impact might we have? This is the subject chosen by Barb Lutz, winning bidder for the 2011 Service Auction sermon topic.

Our Interim Minister

We are pleased to introduce Pam Allen-Thompson, FUS' soon-to-be Interim Minister for 2012-13.

The Board of Trustees is excited to announce that it has approved the Reverend Doctor Pam Allen-Thompson as the interim minister for FUS! Originally from Paris, Texas, Rev. Allen-Thompson is coming to us after serving for four years at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Charlotte County in Florida. The FUS Interim Task Force enthusiastically recommended her for her mixture of skills in organizational development and membership growth which will help FUS get ready for our next settled ministry. We look forward to welcoming "Rev. Pam" in August to begin a year of intensive work together!

Rock the Garden at FUSRock the Garden
Rock the Garden, the hottest outdoor concert in the Cities, sold out in record time. You can't buy a ticket, but you can still hear the music and hang out with the coolest people around. How?

Come to FUS on June 16, 6:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. to hear the music from the FUS patio. (The concert takes place on the Walker Art Center lawn.) Bring dinner and drinks for your group, and patio chairs or blankets and then just kick back and enjoy the view of the city and music of great local bands making it big on the national scene -- Howler, the Tune Yards, Doomtree, Trampled by Turtles, and The Hold Steady. (Full disclosure, you can't see the bands from FUS, but you can hear really well.) FUS contact: Madalyn Cioci.

Social Justice Internship

Each summer FUS organizes a Summer Social Justice Internship Program open to our youth. It's a combination of paid social justice work and periodic meetings with a volunteer adult mentor from our congregation. Several youth have expressed interest, but we need adult mentors. If you are interested in volunteering or learning more, see Adele Hansen or Jan Devor.
