Jesus, Kali, Darwin and the Cosmic Dance
April 24 Assembly, 10:30 a.m.

Speaker: Rev. Dr. Kendyl Gibbons. Both crucifixion and resurrection go on all around us, all the time. On this combined Easter Sunday and Earth Day, we are called to explore once again the paradox of creativity and destruction, and the ways in which cosmic forces and human values combine to shape the meaning of our existence. Spring advances across the landscape, while the ruins of Honshu and Haiti bear continuing witness to our tragic vulnerability. Our only equilibrium lies in the movement of unfolding, as partners in the ever-changing dance of life - and that requires both tension and acceptance. So we remember, and mourn, and rise again. Remember to bring your Guest At Your Table box to be gathered at this Assembly.

To Bunny or Not to Bunny?
Easter is coming up and with it comes the liberal religious parental dilemma: to Easter Bunny or not to Easter Bunny? Our RE Director, Jan Devor says, "Easter Bunny all the way! Why should we let the Christian kids have all the fun?" But for a more articulate discussion of this issue, see the book Parenting Beyond Belief, edited by Dale McGown.

Social Justice Mentors Needed Mentors Needed for FUS Summer Social Justice Internship Program
The First Unitarian Summer Social Justice Internship Program promotes opportunities for learning about social justice for the young people in our congregation who have completed 9th -11th grades. The Program provides each intern with a mentor to discuss their work and issues of social justice which arise from the specific work they are doing.
Mentors must attend a two-hour training to learn more about social justice issues and meet the interns. After that, the mentors contact with youth is on an every-other-week basis (time and place to be arranged by the mentor and youth) during their internship.
For more information, contact Adele Hansen or Carol Koepp.
