ASSEMBLY at 10:30 a.m. "What We Choose Is What We Are"

Speaker: The Rev. Dr. Kendyl Gibbons.
As the national economy settles into a 'new normal', institutions everywhere - especially non-profit organizations - are summoned to be increasingly clear and precise about their missions, in order to be worthy of their donors' support. This demand is actually good for the long term health of such groups; one of the fundamental habits of both successful individuals and successful communities is to begin with the end in mind; to know where it is we want to go. What, then, do we consider to be the mission of FUS? What is this congregation in the world to do? Do we exist to promote humanism, to create a comfortable community, or to change the world somehow? What discomfort are we willing to undergo in the service of any of these visions?

UUs in Action!
On Friday January 14 when FUS member Becca Brackett arrived at FUS for her discovery group she noted that there was no gap in parked cars for the fire hydrant by the park just SE of FUS. She looked and did not see the hydrant, just a huge pile of plowed snow. On Sunday morning she and Fred Olson arrived early with suitable shovels after checking Google street view to find that the hydrant was just east of a small tree out in the park. Thanks Becca and Fred!
