FORUM at 9:30 a.m. "Maintaining Balance -- Congregational Systems Inventory"
Presenter: Erin Margit Dajka, Ministerial Intern. In early November, twelve members of FUS participated in a Congregational Systems Inventory. The inventory was a requirement for the class on religious leadership Erin is taking in conjunction with this internship. Come to this forum to hear about the results! This inventory determines how the congregation is functioning in seven different areas. We will take ample time for questions and discussion of the results. See if you agree with what the inventory discovered.
ASSEMBLY at 10:30 a.m. "Growing Into the New Year"
Speaker: Rev. Dr. Kendyl Gibbons. Such huge changes happen to us as human beings during the first two decades of our lives-physical, intellectual, emotional, and moral developmental processes all operate continuously and visibly to turn us, more or less, into adults. But then what? Subtle physical changes continue over the years, but what about the others forms of development? How do we measure intellectual, emotional, and moral growth? Is it even meaningful for a humanist to think in terms of spiritual growth? At this Assembly, flowers of caring and celebration will be shared.
FUS GalleryOn view woodcuts and paintings by Verne Anderson in the FUS Gallery Sunday January 2 through Sunday February 6.

Adult Religious Education Classes

Adult Religious Education starts the new year right away! Our five sessions on How Christianity Took Over, exploring what happened after the events described in the New Testament up through the beginning of the Protestant Reformation, begins on Thursday evening, January 6, at 7:00. Sign up at the Ask Me table on Sunday morning, or e-mail Kendyl or Teresa to let us know you are coming, so we can make enough copies.
Also be looking ahead to the beginning of our ten-session course on Constructing a Personal Worldview, which starts on March 10. This is a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of your spiritual journey, looking at your own beliefs and how they connect with the questions and teachings of various traditions, including humanism. See Kendyl if you would like to know more.

Trustee Tidbit
Last March's Trustee Tidbit reported on the Board's decision to retain a contractor to correct FUS energy inefficiencies, with the contract being paid out of a share of the savings realized. We are pleased to report great success for this endeavor, with reduced utility costs helping to balance the budget! At its latest meeting the Board voted to move ahead with additional energy improvements that will also add to our summertime comfort -- by enabling our fans to automatically cool the building with outdoor air at night in anticipation of warm summer days.
