Provision Change - Please Read
In our previous communication, we indicated that if a dependent child is eligible for employer-sponsored health care coverage through their own place of employment, they cannot enroll in an SBC plan.
In order to stay consistent with existing eligibility provisions, we are eliminating this requirement.
Therefore, unmarried dependent child who are younger than 26 and otherwise meet their plan's eligibility requirements may continue on the plan, regardless of whether they are eligible to participate in another health plan.
In addition, employees with health coverage who have dependent children who are not currently on the plan, but fall within the guidelines stated above, may add these dependent children to the plan between June 1, 2010 and June 30, 2010. However, their benefits will be subject to the preexisting condition exclusion under the plan.
We apologize if this provision change causes any inconvenience for you or your plan members. |
