Blind Boys of Alabama Order Tickets Soon Sept. 10, 7:30pm Hope College Dimnent Chapel
The gospel sounds of the Blind Boys of Alabama will fill Dimnent Memorial Chapel at Hope College on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 7:30 p.m.
Through the years, the legendary gospel group has won five Grammy Awards, has been granted lifetime achievement awards by both the National Endowment for the Arts and the Grammy Foundation, and has twice been invited by presidents to sing at the White House.
The Blind Boys interpret a wide range, from traditional gospel favorites to contemporary spiritual material, by songwriters including Curtis Mafield, Ben Harper, Eric Clapton, Prince and Tom Waits. With performances airing on "The Tonight Show," "Late Night with David Letterman," "The Grammy Awards," "60 minutes," and a PBS special, millions of people have experienced the group.

9/11 Community Interfaith Service September 11, 4pm Maas Auditorium, Hope College
A 9/11 Community Interfaith Service of Remembrance, Reflection, and Peacemaking will be held Sunday, September 11, at 4 p.m. at the Hope College Maas Auditorium, Columbia Ave. at 11th Street, Holland.
The service will include remarks by spiritual leaders from Christian, Jewish,Islamic, and Baha'i faiths; readings and prayers; music by adult,children's, and bell choirs; and dance. A free-will offering will be taken to cover expenses, with remaining funds donated to Hope United for Justice.
People interested in walking together to the service will gather at the Centennial Park gazebo, River Avenue between 10th and 11th Streets,at 3:30 p.m.

Musical Performance: Janis Ian Thursday, September 18, 8pm Saugatuck Center for the Arts
 Grammy winning, iconic singer/songwriter Janis Ian comes to the Saugatuck Center for the Arts for this one-night only performance. When she was just 15, Ian recorded her self-titled debut which included "Society's Child (Baby I've Been Thinking)," a meditation on interracial romance written by Ian while waiting to meet with her school guidance counselor. The song went to the upper rungs of the pop charts and made Ian an overnight sensation. Her 1975 album, "Between the Lines" included the pop smash, "At Seventeen" which reached #1 on the U.S. charts and won Ian a Grammy. For More Information |

"Island Reflections: The Contemporary Art of Curaçao" Through October 1 DePree Art Gallery
The vibrant and diverse contemporary art and cultural heritage of the Caribbean island of Curaçao will be the focus of an exhibition in the gallery of the Hope College De Pree Art Center opening in August.
Curaçao is a small southern Caribbean island just off the coast of Venezuela that is an independent nation within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Wilczak first visited Curaçao in January 2010, and was immediately impressed by the island's vibrant, diverse, unique and refined art community. She has developed "Island Reflections" to share the artists' insights, and Curaçao's art and culture, with the larger world. For more information |

Hope College Great Performance Series Season Tickets Now Available (offering savings of over 40%)
The Hope College Great Performance Series is returning for the 2011-12 season with a range of cultural events highlighting the best in dance, music and theatre.
From the alluring movements of the River North Dance Chicago Company to sounds of jazz legend Kenny Barron, the series will feature a range of events suitable for anyone and everyone to experience. The season will open on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 29 and 30, with 7:30 p.m. performances by River North Chicago Dance Company at the Knickerbocker Theatre. Under the direction of Artistic Director Frank Chaves, River North is a jazz-based contemporary company. The "Chicago Sun-Times" has described River North Dance Chicago as "enthralling, a hugely attractive and technically impressive company." On Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel, the Enso String Quartet will take the stage. With a 2010 Grammy nomination for "Best Chamber Music Performance" this award-winning young ensemble is growing a wide fan base.
