Forum participants heard from experts in the areas of the urban form & the built environment, nutrition & food access, physical activity and health literacy & culture. The goal was to challenge the participants to think creatively about solutions and to develop recommendations to improve the health of children in Austin. |

AISD Releases Annual Report and Strategic Plan "Scorecard" |
Austin ISD has released its 2010 Annual Report "Changing With the World" which reviews the academic, operational and financial condition of the district. The growing district of 86,000 students made improvements on virtually every TAKS standard.
AISD has also released a Strategic Plan Scorecard which tracks how well the district is doing in meeting the four goals of its Strategic Plan...
- All students will perform at or above grade level.
- Achievement gaps among all student groups will be eliminated.
- All students will graduate ready for college, career, and life in a globally competitive economy.
- All schools will meet or exceed state accountability standards, and the district will meet federal standards and exceed state standards.

Every Day Counts AISD Attendance Campaign |
If the Austin ISD annual attendance rate increased just 1% district-wide, the district would receive an additional $5.6 million in increased state revenue. When students miss school one day, they have to work twice as hard the next day to catch up and the teacher's time spent helping the student who is behind slows down the entire class. Austin ISD has launched a new attendance campaign to encourage parents, students, employers and the community at large to stress the importance of regular school attendance.
