State of Working Texas |
The Center for Public Policy Priorities has released its annual report, The State of Working Texas 2009. The report shows that, although our state was late to feel the effects of the recession, it has caught up with us. The unemployment rate climbed to 8.2 percent in September with 44,700 Texas jobs lost.

Median wages in Texas were $14.11, lower than the national average of $15.74 and the Southern states' average of $14.93. The report finds that men's wages have lost more ground than women's wages. | |
