NEW KOMODO EXPEDITION COMING SOON

Komodo IslandThe islands that run East from Lombok, Indonesia, start to show signs of what we would normally characterise as northern Australian. Rain forest gives way to drier landscapes. Monkeys are no longer seen and even birds of Australia are seen. These fascinating islands are ancient and lead to one of the most fascination islands on Earth, Komodo Island.

Our new Komodo Expedition will involve sitting on our converted motor boat for 5-6 days, snorkeling some of the best reefs around, fishing, eating, drinking and pretty much doing nothing. Sounds terrible doesn't it. Our boat will sail the northern coast of Sumbawa and down to Rinca, Komodo and Flores Islands from Lombok.

This is our own Charter boat so we can stop whenever and wherever we want. This is an awesome expedition to do with a group of friends to see the mighty Komodo Dragons and the pristine beaches of Nusa Tengara.

Coming 2008.
84 YEAR OLD KOKODA TREKKER. INSPIRATION!
Kokoda AlolaWhen we first heard about Ernest Jackson we were a little worried about him. Who wouldn't be? At 84 we had reservations. But we were told he had walked across England last year, he was prepared to see a Doctor first and his Insurance company had no problems with him. How could we refuse giving him an opportunity to walk one of the most intense jungle tracks on the planet.
Ern was a wiry fellow who didn't look 84. He had a sparkle in his eye and a spring in his step. It was this inner youth, plus a great deal of guts and determination, that propelled Ern over the Owen Stanley Ranges and into the record books.
That's right, Ernest Jackson is the oldest person to walk the Kokoda Track from end to end. He was an inspiration to all the other walkers and he gave us all fascinating insights into his life. Well done Ern and Thank You.
GUNUNG RINJANI. 2008 SEASON READY.
Rinjani MovieWe get asked so often "What is the best trip you have?" This of course is impossible to answer, but if people only have 1 week for an adventure (quite common now with work pressures), we say "Gunung Rinjani hands down". Rinjani is found on the island of Lombok, Indonesia and provides those wanting everything out of an adventure with everything. Rainforest, waterfalls, Sasak stick fighting, hot springs, high altitude lake, a volcano, coral reefs, 5 star accommodation (the Sheraton) and of course a mountain summit. This is simply an awesome expedition all packed into 1 week. No Roads is the operator of this expedition so we can run private trips from 2 people and up. GINKGO BILOBA HELPS FIGHT A.M.S

Nepal TentAlong with ascending slowly and taking time to acclimatize, try the herb ginkgo biloba, used by the Chinese for more than 5,000 years. "Take 100 milligrams twice a day, starting a few days before your climb," says Dr. Peter Hackett, the president of the International Society of Mountain Medicine.

"We don't know why ginkgo helps, but in tests it reduces both the incidence and severity of AMS [acute mountain sickness]." The herb also increases peripheral blood flow, so your hands and feet may stay warmer.

KOKODA DAY - AUGUST 8
Isurava Memorial

August 8 has been set aside by the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne as Kokoda Day. There is a growing movement calling for a specific Kokoda Day to be gazetted into all State and Federal Government calendars. This we hope will motivate Government departments to release funding that will be used to educate the Australian community on the importance of the Kokoda campaign and the sacrifice these men made. While ANZAC Day is meant to represent all services and battles Australia has been in, its focus is very much WWI. We believe WWII and specifically Kokoda needs to have its own day. It was the battle in which most Australians died in and it was the first battle in which Australians were directly defending the Australian mainland. We call on the RSL and the Australian Government to set August 8 (or any other appropriate day) as Kokoda Day.

Mt Kenya NEW Expeditions

Mount Kenya

Before Queen Victoria gave Mt Kilimanjaro to Tanzania (as you do), Kenya was home to Africa's two highest peaks, Kilimanjaro and Mt Kenya. Often overshadowed by its taller neighbor, Mt Kenya is one of the most beautiful mountain treks in East Africa. Its multiple peaks, snow capped summits and permanent glaciers, plus its wildlife attractions, make Mt Kenya an awesome African experience.  Check it out.
