Belmonte is Back!

Our August 20 luncheon speaker is Luis Belmonte, a prominent Bay Area developer and asset manager. Popular on the real estate speaking circuit, Belmonte is a humorously outspoken observer of commercial and residential real estate trends and politics, as well as an expert on workouts. Belmonte is a partner in Seven Hills Properties and was formerly Executive Vice President of AMB Property Corporation (NYSE: AMB). At AMB, he was responsible for more than $1 billion in global development and redevelopment activities and directed the asset management operations for 50 msf of the firm's U.S. portfolio. Before joining AMB, Belmonte spent 16 years with Lincoln Property Company as partner in charge of industrial development in Northern California, building more than 18 msf of buildings valued in excess of $750 million. His early career included apartment redevelopment work in San Francisco for D.H. Overmyer Company and service as a junior officer in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Belmonte has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Santa Clara and did graduate studies in Political Science at UC Berkeley and the University of Chicago. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and past president of the San Francisco Chapter of NAIOP . This is also the Annual General Membership meeting of the Chapter. IREM SF to elect new officers, directors Friday
Annual chapter elections will be held Friday during the luncheon meeting. Members who are unable to attend may vote by clicking here.
Heading the slate as 2011 president is David Saldivar, CPM, CCIM, who was elected in 2009. David is the owner of CRE Property Management, a full service, boutique firm, with experience in property management, brokerage, mortgage banking, and development. The company has asset management responsibilities for over $120 million of real estate and mortgages in California and Mississippi. David earned the CPM designation in 2004. He was elected to the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Chapter of IREM in 2008, was 2009 chair of the Legislative Committee. David has served as president of the Northern California chapter of CCIM and as president of the Bay Area Mortgage Association. David earned a bachelors degree in History from Stanford University.He is married and has two grown children. He stays focused and energized with a rigorous physical fitness routine. During 2001-2009, David completed twenty-eight marathon runs including Dublin, Ireland; Napa Valley; Anchorage, AK; Boston; Athens, Greece; Angkor Wat, Cambodia; Avenue of the Giants; Medoc (Bordeaux); Safaricom (Kenya); Portland; Antarctica and San Francisco. Fair Housing Seminar now offered to firms
IREM SF is now making available a new DVD-based seminar specially designed for residential real estate managers.
"Fair Housing and Beyond" is the result of an exciting collaboration between the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and the National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI). The course carries four hours of CA DRE credit for Ethics.
