June 18 Luncheon Meeting
Going Green means new
mandatory energy disclosure
On the near horizon are mandatory energy disclosure and audits. With recent laws such as AB 1103, owners are now faced with legislative mandates to disclose their energy usage and, the idea of mandated energy audits have been implemented in other major metropolitan markets and being considered locally. As the co-chair of the San Francisco Mayor's Task Force for Commercial Buildings, your colleague Steven Ring will be sharing insight on the proposed legislation that will affect all commercial properties in San Francisco and elsewhere.
Whether you manage an office building or a multi-family complex, a strip mall or a warehouse, you owe it to yourself and your owners to be on top of this subject.
Ring is uniquely qualified to address the subject of sustainability. As Director of Client Solutions at Cushman & Wakefield in downtown San Francisco, he is currently overseeing the LEED certification of over 6,000,000 square feet in the San Francisco region. He helped obtain LEED-EB Gold certification for the Transamerica Pyramid, and 525 Market Street, San Francisco, currently the largest LEED-EB Gold high-rise office building on the West Coast. During the past 25 years, he has managed various types of real estate from small multi-family communities to large office buildings and regional retail centers. Currently, his focus is on the management of large office buildings. He is Co-chair of the National Cushman & Wakefield Energy & Sustainability Task Force and the Mayor's Task Force on Existing Commercial Building Efficiencies. On June 24, Steve will instruct IREM's new one-day course on Sustainable Real Estate Management in San Francisco.
