Volunteers honored at Holiday Event
    Chapter volunteers took the sportlight at the Annual Holiday Luncheon celebration at the Bankers Club in December.

 Honored as CPM of the Year was Margo Foster of Westrust.  Margo, who manages the Nut Tree in Vacaville, is a familiar sight at the Chapters annual golf tournatment where she has served as committee vice-chair for several years.  In 2008, margo also served as Programs Chair.  She has been influential in the success of the Friends of IREM program and has raised hundreds of dollars in chapter raffles.

AMO of the Year honors went to Cushman & Wakefield of California for its support of the chapter's 2008 President James Kilroy who manages 425 Market Street for the firm.  Killroy also received a proclamation from San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom.

     Able Services was honored as the 2008 Friend of The Year for its support of the chapter golf tournament, the 10th Annual Diversity Luncheon and the Green Buildings Workshop.  Representing the company were Mark Kelly, Mark Langermann and Sean Kelly.
 
     Over 100 people attended the luncheon which featured live music and a video of the 75th Anniversary Luncheon held by the Chapter in September.   To view the video, click here.

Sign up now for 'Rebuilding Together' Day in Oakland, April 18 & 25
     Rebuilding Together is the nation's largest volunteer organization preserving housing and revitalizing communities. This event presents a great opportunity for IREM members to join Oakland City employees to give back and help the community. Union square

     On Saturday, April 18 and Saturday, April 25, volunteer teams will embark on improving twenty houses in the various parts of Oakland.Hamid Ghaemmaghami, CPM,  and Sunny Nguyen will be team capitan and volunteer coordinator for a house located at 6034 Buena Ventura Avenue in East Oakland. Please contact us or fill in the volunteer recruitment flyer if you are interested in giving a hand. You can choose to participate either on both days or any one day event that works for you. 

     Last April, 25 members of IREM and NCalCCIM worked on  the home of an elderly Oakland widow.
 
A little info about Rebuilding Together-Oakland ...
      Rebuilding Together-Oakland was founded in 1993 and became a non-profit 501(c)(3) in 1995.  Their program is being expanded this year.  In 2008,  it was part of 2,700 volunteers, rehabilitating 64 homes and 14 non-profit facilities--with an estimated $1.4 million in improvements.  You can see more about   RTO @  www.rtoakland.org.

Willie Brown addresses     sell-out crowd   at Diversity Luncheon
 
Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown
     Over 200 people crowded into the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf in February to hear former San Francisco Mayor and State Senator talk about the challenges he faced as a black man in politics and business.
     Attendees also view a special video highlighting the ten years of diversity programs and featuring interviews with several past and present chapter leaders.  To view the video, click here.

IREM SF again named 5-Star Chapter
 
     For the second consecutive year, the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter has received the 5-Star rating from IREM International.  It is the highest ranking in the association.

New Fair Housing  Seminar now offered to firms 

   IREM SF is now making available  a new DVD-based seminar specially designed for residential real estate managers. 

 "Fair Housing and Beyond" is the result of an exciting collaboration between the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and the National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI).
