It's a glorious time of year to spend outside!  The leaves are changing and the air is crisp and cool.  It's also a great time to do some of those chores we put off during the hot, buggy summer months.
 
Clean feeders, houses and birdbaths are very important to the health and safety of our birds.  We have a terrific enzyme-based product called Scoot Bird Feeder Cleaner that we highly recommend for dissolving bird droppings, old feed crust and mold and mildew stains.  It's environmentally friendly and does a terrific job getting your feeders in tip top shape!  Tube feeder brushes and birdbath brushes make the job easier and get in hard to reach places.  Make sure to replace any broken or older feeders that may be falling apart, also. Sure, the duct tape is holding but your neighbors are starting to talk!  Replace squirrel-damaged feeders with a new squirrel-proof feeder which start at $26.99 for the Squirrel Buster Mini  (pictured above) to the most popular Droll Yankee Flipper (now priced at $129.99).  Fall is also the best time to put up Screech Owl Boxes.  These tiny owls will quickly take to boxes as the leaves fall from the trees and they are unable to hide from harassing songbirds during the daytime!  If you already have an Owl Box, remember to clean it out and replace the wood shavings at least once a year.
