Ruby-throated Hummingbird numbers are really picking up! We are seeing more adult
males at the feeders now and some identifiable young males with their
red gorget feathers starting to peek through! In another week or two, the hummer wars will begin as fall migration really gets going.
Don't forget to change the nectar in your feeders every few days in this heat!

Save the Date!
Bird Watcher is planning to host our 3rd Annual Hummingbird Banding Day at our Buford location on Saturday, August 28th.
Details to follow in future BirdWatcher News.

Did You Know?
It would take over 2,000 hummingbird eggs, the world's smallest, to equal the weight of just one ostrich egg?
Although the ostrich egg is the world's largest, it is the smallest in comparison to the size of it's mother.
A hummingbird egg weighs about half a gram, which is approximately 17% of the female hummer's body weight. Laying this egg is equivalent to a human giving birth to a 22lb baby! Ouch!!!
