Our local birds are all breeding now - many have hatched or even fledged their first broods of the season. The majority will then rebuild and have at least one more batch of babies before the summer ends!
Parent birds are busy feeding their young ones insects, which are the perfect food for growing babies! They are also feasting on this abundant food themselves, which is why we aren't seeing much activity at feeders right now. Soon we will be seeing both parents and young birds at our seed offerings - especially when the kids find out how easy it is to find a snack at a feeder!
