You've asked, and we've listened.
Beginning in August, The Arc of Whatcom County will be featuring monthly advocacy workshops to meet your busy schedules. Ask the Advocate
These workshops will help expand your knowledge on key issues and get your questions answered by an experienced advocate. The two-hour workshops will be held every other month on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm.
August 30: "Back to School" Are you, your child and the school team prepared?
October 25: "Communicating through Technology" How can technology help your child communicate and learn?
December 6: "I am 17 going on 18" What do you need to know BEFORE your child becomes an adult?
Coffee & Connections
This is a unique opportunity to have a relaxed visit with trained advocates and parents and receive support and information for your individual needs.
Phones and computers will be available to draft documents, complete forms or contact local agencies. Bring your latest advocacy project - your child's IEP, communication tool, letter for an elected official/ school administrator, etc.
"Coffee & Connections" will be held from 10am-1pm on the fourth Friday of every month. The first two sessions will be July 22 and August 26. Please stop in for as little or as long as you wish.
