    Washington State Legislative News

Many Bills are being considered during this legislative session that are of particular interest to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Two bills in particular have already been heard in committee and have been or are scheduled for executive session. House Bill 2490 concerns respectful language by using "intellectual disability" in state language. The bill was heard in the House State Government committee and was approved and passed on to the next committee.

Senate Bill 6423, revises language concerning Resdential Habilitation Centers and their closures. It was heard in the Senate Health & Long Term Care committee and is scheduled for Executive Session next week.
