The Road show is about providing information on the Adult Service System for individuals with developmental disabilities, their families and educators. The adult service system can be challenging place to navigate, and we would like to give parents and families a chance to ask questions about services and the road ahead.

Topics include Important dates and Tips for Transition into adult services, navigating the service system, eligibility and services provided through the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), Short and long term employment supports through the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and the Whatcom County Developmental Disabilities Program, "building a life" for your son or daughter after they leave school.

    Legislative Reception in Olympia

    January 20, 2010 5:30 to 7:30 pm
Columbia Room, Legislative Building on the Capitol Campus in Olympia

January 20, 2010 will be the Legislative Reception for all disabilities in the Columbia Room at the Capitol in Olympia. This is a great time to meet and greet legislators from around the state. If you plan to attend, please contact your legislators and let them know at least two weeks prior that you will be there so they know they will have constituents from their district expecting them.

A briefing for advocates of Developmental Disabilities will begin at 2:30 pm at The United Churches across from the capitol. Information will be provided to participants on the current issues of importance to developmental disabilities which they can share with their legislators at the Legislative Reception later that evening. Go get dinner, then come back and join us for the Legislative Reception with legislators at 5:30 pm in the Columbia Room. Invite friends and family who share your concerns about disability issues and be sure to let your legislators you will be there

To find your senators' and representative's phone numbers, you may use a searchable online directory or call TOLL-FREE: 1-800-562-6000 & ask for your senators' and/or representative's phone number.

Remember that telephone calls are usually taken by a staff member, not the legislator. Ask to speak with the aide who handles the issue about which you wish to comment.
