Understanding Challenging Behavior: Strategies for Functional Assessment

FREE workshop by Jackie Chotiner, Ph.D.

As the first step in providing effective behavioral interventions, this session provides training on understanding why challenging behavior occurs.

Once the predictors and functions of challenging behaviors are understood, triggers can be eliminated and appropriate behaviors that serve the same purpose for the individual can be encouraged and/or trained to reduce challenging behaviors.

The need for finding appropriate ways for clients to "communicate" their needs is stressed.

    Target Audience:

    • care providers in residential, vocational, and recreational programs
    • parents
    • educators
    • DDD case resource managers
    • mental health specialists

    Monday March 23
    12:30 - 4:30 p.m.
    DDD Region 3 Office
    840 N. Broadway, Suite 100, Room 103

To find your senators' and representative's phone numbers, you may use a searchable online congressional directory or call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202)224-3121 and ask for your senators' and/or representative's office.

Remember that telephone calls are usually taken by a staff member, not the member of Congress. Ask to speak with the aide who handles the issue about which you wish to comment.
