    The Disabilities Community of Washington State invites you to attend the Annual Disability Legislative Reception.

    This is an opportunity for people with disabilities and the organizations that represent them and their families to meet with legislators to discuss issues critical to them.

    2009 College Scholarships

    For Students with Parents with Disabilities Announcement

    Through the Looking Glass
    and its National Center for Parents with Disabilities and their Families are pleased to announce new scholarships specifically for

    • High school seniors
    • College students
    who have parents with disabilities.

    5 separate $1000 awards in each category given out in Fall 2009.
    Individuals may submit only one application per award period.

    Selection criteria for all scholarships include:

    • academic performance
    • community activities and service
    • letters of recommendation
    • an essay describing growing up with a parent with an disability

    Legislators are back in Washington, D.C. and have started!

    Use the information below to contact your legislator to make your views heard.

    To find your senators' and representative's phone numbers, you may use a searchable online congressional directory or call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202)224-3121 and ask for your senators' and/or representative's office.

    Remember that telephone calls are usually taken by a staff member, not the member of Congress. Ask to speak with the aide who handles the issue about which you wish to comment.
