Whatcom Alliance for Healthcare Access (WAHA)

WAHA is a local nonprofit that is dedicated to promoting access to healthcare services for all members of our community.

They provide insurance counseling and several tools that assist people in determining the best insurance for their needs.

They support the Whatcom Project Accesss which is a program with the Whatcom County Medical Society that makes specialty care available to eligible uninsured patients.

WAHA sponsors the Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) helpline that offers information about health insurance, health care access, prescription access, long-term care options, and health care fraud and abuse prevention.

    ADVOCATE

The Governor's budget is due out next week.

The Governor and the Legislature are having to write a budget that will accommodate over 5 billion dollars less in revenue.

They are having to make large cuts in all departments and programs.

The Governor is asking for citizen input. She is using a process called Priorities of Government that indicates which programs are priorities and the extent that they will be funded.

Read what Governor Gregoire has to say and let her know what programs are important to you.
