    Parent Coalition priorities are being established for the 2009 Legislative session

    The statewide Parent Coalitions are starting to compile their priorities for the upcoming legislative session.

    The following list has been suggested.
    They are listed in no particular order of importance.

    • Increased Casemanager FTE's to implement and administer programs
    • Adding HS Graduates to Basic Waiver
    • Infant Toddler Equity Act
    • DD Land Trust
    • Close an RHC
    • Insurance coverage for Autism
    • Funding for Life Opportunities Trust
    • Neurodevelopmental Therapies
    • Adding siblings/grandparents who are primary care providers to Individual and Family Services program

    What are your concerns?
    What would you like to see the Parent Coalition of Whatcom County focus on?

    "Hunger Doesn't Take a Holiday" Food Drive

    Youth Self Advocacy Group sponsors food drive as community service project

    The Youth Self Advocacy group will have a food drive throughout the fall.

    They will accept non-perishable food donations at The Arc's Dan Godwin Community Center.

    They will also have tables at two upcoming community events where they will accept donations.

    Interagency Coordinating Council

    Special Meeting September 9

    The Whatcom County Interagency Coordinating Council is a coalition of community agencies and service providers to promote improved access to health and developmental services for infants and young children with special needs.

    Professionals and parents meet regularly to promote early identification and intervention services and improved coordination of services for children with medical and/or developmental disabilities.

    Families are encouraged to become active members of this organization.
