  • Youth Self-Advocacy Group To Be Honored for Service

    The Whatcom Family & Community Network will hold their 1st Annual Whatcom Youth Service Day Award Ceremony.

    The Whatcom Family & Community Network (WFCN) will recognize local youth groups for their outstanding service on behalf of the community.

    The Whatcom County Youth Self-Advocacy Group will be among the youth groups that will be commended for their service to their community!

    Recipients are recognized not just for their specific acts of caring and service, but also because they embody the values of empowerment, of asset-building, and of respect for human dignity. They reflect our community's highest values and deepest respect for the well-being of all.

    Free Self Defense Class Offered

    FREE 3-hour self defense course for women

    In light of the recent attack on the woman jogging on Squalicum Creek Trail,
    local self defense/martial arts instructor and community member, has partnered with DVSAS (Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services) to conduct a self defense course for women.

    Please join the course and share this information with every woman (young and old) you know.

    Thursday, April 17
    5:30-8:30pm at
    1407 Commercial Avenue.

    Home Repair Loans Available

    Low and NO interest loans are available to those who qualify.

    Qualifications:
    · Home is owner-occupied
    · Owners are low to moderate income
    · Home is located in the Bellingham City Limits

    The City of Bellingham has offered its Home Rehabilitation Program since 1977!

    850 homeowners in Bellingham have been helped to repair leaky roofs, unsafe wiring and other dangers.

    TOPSoccer is coming to Whatcom County!

    Adaptive Soccer program starting up!

    Whatcom County children with physical and/or intellectual disabilities ages 4-19 will have the opportunity to participate this new adaptive soccer program starting April 13th.

    The program is designed to enhance development of

    • social skills
    • motor coordination
    • communication skills
    • and provide an opportunity for exercise
    through the enjoyment of the great game of soccer!

    WCYSA's TOPSoccer season starts
    Sunday April 13
    and will last 5 weeks.
    Location: Sportsplex Ice & Indoor Soccer Arena
    1225 Civic Field Way, Bellingham.

    Sunday afternoons
    From 3:00-4:00 or 4:00-5:00 p.m.
    depending on the number of participants.
