EXHIBIT: Scott Erb: 20 Artists of Worcester
April 2010, Reception Thursday April 1st, 6:30 p.m.
20 Artists of WorcesterScott Erb of Erb Photography is hanging his photographs from the book Twenty Artists of Worcester during this exhibit, which will be on display for the month of April. The project, which was partially funded by an individual grant from the Worcester Cultural Commission, highlights 20 of Worcester County's most talented artists, including Southbridge's own Antonio Fonseca.

"It was hard to believe after meeting so many creative people in the area that there was so little publicity about them," Erb said. Taking matters into his own hands, he began his own creative journey to document, through photography and text, 20 of the most sought after artists in Worcester County in their personal studios. "I wanted to meet and collaborate with them in order to create interesting images - images that could tell a little bit about them as creative people living and working in the area."

Scott Erb will be able to show off these hidden and not-so-hidden gems in this exhibition. But if you are interested in the book based on this show, you'll have to order it online; as the book sold out at the opening show last November at the Davis Art Gallery in Worcester MA!  Anyone who would like Scott to sign their book is welcome to bring their copy to the opening reception on Thursday, April 1st at 6:30 p.m.  Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Library.

Synopsis:
"Jara is a shy and lonely 35-year-old security guard at a supermarket on the outskirts of Montevideo. He works the night shift, monitoring the surveillance cameras of the entire building. One night Jara discovers Julia, a 25-year-old cleaning woman, through one of the cameras and is immediately attracted to her. Night after night, he watches her on the cameras while she works. Soon he starts following her after work: to the cinema, the beach and even to a date with another man. Jara's life becomes a series of routines and rituals around Julia, but eventually he finds himself at a crossroad and must decide whether to give up his obsession or confront it."

"Which would make you happier in the long run: getting a raise or joining a knitting club?  Surprise: it's the knitting!  Folks who indulge in a hobby enjoy improved moods for months longer than folks who get a bump in salary, buy a new car or move into a new house, reports the journal Social and Personality Psychology Compass." - Read at this past Tuesday's gathering by Jovette Gauthier.
