CENSUS 2010

The Census - It's That Time Again!

BE   COUNTED!

The 2010 Census is rapidly approaching.  The United States Constitution calls for the federal government to conduct a census every ten years.  The data collected will determine the number of seats each state will have in the U. S. House of Representatives.  Census data is also used to mine the allocation of federal funds for community services including school lunch programs, senior centers, and new construction projects.  Every year, the federal government distributes more than $400 billion to local, state and tribal governments based on the census data.

The Friends of the Jacob Edwards Library present Ben X which will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Pioppi Room, lower level.  Candy will be available for purchase.

Synopsis:
"Ben is different. His life is a universe all to itself, where he avidly plays his favorite on-line computer game in an attempt to train for and block out the reality of his daily experiences.  Ben has Asperger's Syndrome, a mild form of autism that prevents normal communication and makes him ideal fodder for all the school bullies.  As the bullies' relentless attacks push him over the edge and out of control, his on-line dream girl, Scarlite, appears to him and helps him devise a perfect plan to confront the bullies and make them pay for their torment. Director Nic Balthazar's dazzling debut blends fantasy and harsh social realism, based on a true story, to bring us an utterly original and important film."
Monday, January 25th at 6 p.m.
