"During the first JH with Trish Broersma in 2010 Trish explored with us the Hero's Journey as metaphor, a roadmap for seeing the much bigger picture. At the end of this workshop when we were discussing the possibility of Trish's return to facilitate a second JH experience, I remember innocently asking "but will you have enough material ..........?" Silly me!

 

JH 2011 confirmed I had no cause for doubt! We embraced deeply the subject of our connection to place thru Dreamtime mythology and stories. We explored the geographical landscape to further understand the landscape of our lives.

Mel Fleming is hosting Journey Horse 22-25 November.  Here's why: "From my experience horses are teachers. Good horsemanship is a metaphor for life, and horses, like everything around us, are reflections of ourselves. They bring their highly attuned senses for picking up subtle cues in the environment, critical for their survival as prey animals on the plains, and vital to us for attending to our surroundings with fresh eyes and ears.  They offer us a bridge to living in greater awareness of the natural world that modern lifestyles frequently mute, a vital connection for us to re-establish for the sake of our planet's future.  They connect us to our full selves, heart, mind, body, and spirit, to help us bring more of who we are to bear upon our day to day life.

 

With horses empowering us in Journey Horse, a new sense of purpose and meaning can blossom forth to charge us with renewed energy and clarity for the future. Without these kinds of regenerating influences we live diminished lives and experience a loss of spirit.  What better way, in my way of thinking, to come back to ourselves and uncover our full potential, than to take that journey with a horse and in the company of friends in Journey Horse.

Trish Broersma has worked in the field of therapeutic riding and body-based modalities for the past 24 years.  Her best-selling book Riding into Your Mythic Life: Transformational Adventures with the Horse, published in 2007 by New World Library, details her innovative work with horses, teens and adults.  She is immediate past president of the Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association, a former section of PATH International (formerly NARHA), where she is a certified therapeutic riding instructor and a faculty member for the Equine Specialist Certification program.
