October 9, Sunday 10 am - 4 pm Please join us for Horses and Apple Pie, a day of writing with the inspiration of horses. Greetings! In the fall of 1882, Oregon cattle rancher J. C. Cashman rode his quarter horse, Trail Boss, 100 miles to deliver three of his wife's apple pies to the sick child of his wife's sister. Within a week of his arrival, the girl had recovered, in later life attributing her newfound health to the pies and the company of Trail Boss, with whom she had bonded immediately. Join me and Robert McDowelll, prize winning poet and author of the new book The More We Get Together: The Sexual and Spiritual Language of Love, on October 9 for a celebration of the healing power of the horse and the pie made with loving kindness. Our all-day workshop will include up-close-and-personal ground time with horses, writing exercises, and delicious apple pies made by your instructors with Mrs. Cashman's healing recipe. As summer progresses to fall, it's a time for reflecting and refocusing. Horses, poetry and journaling (spiced with savory pies) will prepare us for the transformational adventure ahead. For more information or to register, call 541.482.6210 or by return email to this post. No level of horse or writing expertise is required. If you're a beginning writer or new to horses, you'll feel warmly welcomed. Please come! Participants should bring a sack lunch for the break between the morning and afternoon sessions. Water, apples, and carrots will be provided. And apple pie. Horses and Apple Pie, October 9, Sunday, 10AM - 4PM Cost: $65 |
