Horsemanship Course Schedule: Courses are held at Ironstone Farm in Andover, MA: a successful equine facility since 1960.

June 23 - Aug 11th Topics include: - Ironstone Farm Executive Summary
- Horse introduction, nomenclature, basic grooming and safety.
- Horse breeds and colors, temperament, behavior and vices
- The "Invisible Horse". Herd observation and breed examples.
- Routine horse management including nutrition, vaccines, teeth care, worming.
- Hands on management practices
- Emergencies and first aid, including colic, accidents, determination of lameness.
- Hands on first aid practices including bandaging.
- Basic hoof care, including basics of shoeing, unsoundness
- Farrier demonstration, types of shoes.
- Riding equipment (tack) and therapeutic equipment.
- Hands on Saddle fitting and tacking up
- The whos, whys, whens, hows of lunging
- Hands-on lunging and vaulting

Cost
Horsemanship Course: $200
Apprentice Course: $300
The fees for both courses may be paid in full before commencing either program or may be made in two installments.
