Apprehending Purpose (2).
"Not as though I had already attained,
either were already perfect: but I follow
after, if that I may apprehend that for
which also I am apprehended of Christ
Jesus." (Philippians 3:12 - KJV.).
In Philippians 3:12, Apostle Paul highlights
three major thoughts and one after the
other, he attempted to address subsequently:
1. I am on a journey going
somewhere; somewhere that God Himself had
predetermined.
2. God has a perfect master
plan for my life. He intends me to conform to
the perfect image of His Perfect Son, Jesus
Christ.
3. I am a man of destiny,
heading towards a God-ordained, God-purposed
destination.
In addressing the first thought, Paul
states:
"Not as though I had already
attained..." (verse 12).
In other words, men may applaud me
and shower encomiums on me as being such a
great man of God, but I know within myself
that I have not yet 'attained'.
I have not
yet 'arrived'; I have not won
yet; I have not
yet reached my destination. I am not yet what
God wants me to be; I am not yet where God
wants me to be, neither do I have all that
God wants me to have!
I may have made some measure of
progress in my life's journey of which men
are are appreciative, but I have by no means
reached my God-ordained destination.

attained?
