The Exemplary Lifestyle (II).
"Let no man despise thy youth; but
be thou an example of the believers,
in word, in conversation, in charity, in
spirit, in faith, in purity." (I
Timothy 4:12).

Paul's COUNSEL #2:
"...be thou an example of the
believers..." (v.12).
Apostle Paul charged Timothy, his son
in the
Lord, to be an 'example' (tupos in the
Greek). An example is a model, figure,
impression, image, representation, pattern,
resemblance, or one worthy of emulation or
imitation.
At various points, Paul encouraged the
brethren to be followers together of him,
even as he was a follower (or imitator) of
Christ (Philippians 3:17; I Corinthians
11:1). But Paul goes a step further to
itemize the specific areas where we must live
exemplary lives as believers:
(a) In word:- Folks, it
behooves us to be
examples in word (logos); which is the
faculty of thinking, meditation,
consideration, reasoning, calculating, or
common discourse (i.e. uttered speech). None
of these must be corrupt, filthy, nor
foolish; but should always be with grace,
seasoned with salt, wise, edifying, prudent,
pleasant and profitable.
'Word' could also refer to The word
of truth
(i.e. the gospel). This must be handled with
gravity and uncorruptness, in sincerity, and
such a way worthy of emulation by other
believers.
(b) In conversation:-
We are again charged to
be models in 'conversation'
(anastrophe) i.e.
manner of life, behavior, conduct, walk, and
general deportment. As true believers, this
must be godly, honest and sincere!
Art thou an example?

Holy Humor.
One bright, beautiful Sunday morning,
everyone in tiny Jonestown wakes up early and
goes to their local church. Before the
service starts, the townspeople sit in their
pews and talk about their lives and their
families.
Suddenly, at the altar, Satan
appears!! Everyone starts screaming and
running for the front entrance, trampling
each other in their determined efforts to get
away from Evil Incarnate. Soon, everyone is
evacuated from the church except for one man,
who sit calmly in his pew, seemingly
oblivious to the fact that God's ultimate
enemy is in his presence. This confuses Satan
a bit. Satan walks up to the man and says,
"Hey, don't you know who I am?" The man says,
"Yep, sure do."
Satan says, "Well, aren't you afraid
of me?" The man says, "Nope, sure ain't."
Satan, perturbed, says, "And why
aren't you afraid of me?" The man says,
"Well, I've been married to your sister for
25 years."
