Let there be Light!
"In the beginning God created the
heaven and the earth. And the earth was
without form, and void; and darkness was upon
the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God
moved upon the face of the waters. And God
said, let there be light: and there was
light." (Genesis 1: 1-3).

In the dateless past, the earth was a
shapeless, formless void; an entropic,
soup-like chaotic mass. All things were
'tohu' and 'bohu' ( in the
Hebrew tongue),
and there was a preponderance of darkness
upon the face of the deep. In other words,
darkness dominated, governed, ruled,
controlled or prevailed over everything else!
Generally, darkness is descriptive of the
absence of light; so when something is dark,
it implies that it is unlit, black, dim,
unilluminated, shadowy, gloomy or obscure.
"Darkness" may be in two forms:
1. Natural Darkness:
"And it came to pass
that when the sun went down, and it was
dark,
behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp
that passed between those pieces." (Genesis
15:17).
2. Supernatural
Darkness: "Now from the
sixth hour there was darkness over all the
land unto the ninth hour." (Matthew 27:45).
"Darkness" may be illustrative of:
1. The way of sin: "And
have no fellowship
with the unfruitful works of darkness, but
rather reprove them." (Ephesians 5:11).
2. A state of afflictions:
"Unto the
upright there ariseth light in the
darkness..." (Psalm 112:4).

Holy Humor.
Early one morning, a mother went in to wake
up her son. "Wake up, son. It's time to go to
school!"
"But why, Mom? I don't want to go."
"Give me two reasons why you don't
want to go."
"Well, the kids hate me for one, and
the teachers hate me, too!"
"Oh, that's no reason not to go to
school. Come on now and get ready."
"Give me two reasons why I should go
to school."
"Well, for one, you're 52 years
old. And for another, you're the Principal!"
