The Man Called Breakthrough (III).
"And it came to pass, when she
travailed, that the one put out his hand: and
the midwife took and bound his hand a scarlet
thread, saying, This came first. And it came
to pass, as he drew back his hand, that
behold, his brother came out: and she said,
How hast thou broken forth? this breach be
upon thee: therefore his name was called
Pharez. And afterward came out his
brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his
hand: and his name was called Zarah."
(Genesis 38: 28-30)

Zarah ('Sunrise' in the Hebrew
tongue) was a
fair-weather fellow who procrastinated, and
could not take a risk; however, Pharez
('Breakthrough' in Hebrew) was
a bold
risk-taker. The outcome of the risk he took
cannot be overlooked:
(1) He had a very large number
of descendants
(Ruth 4:12).
(2) One of his descendants became
chief of
all the captains of the hosts of Israel (I
Chronicles 27:3).
(3) Pharez became the reference
point for
fruitfulness and greatness (Ruth 4:12;
Nehemiah 11:6).
(4) He became the great
grandfather of Boaz,
who gave birth to Obed, who gave birth to
Jesse, who gave birth to David, to whom
Christ (The Messiah) is linked in human
genealogy (Matthew 1:1-3).
(5) He broke through from a cursed
generation
to a blessed generation (Psalms 24:6, 5).
Irrespective of the unwholesome
circumstances
surrounding their birth (i.e prostitution,
adultery, and disobedience), Pharez still
broke through anyhow! Though they could not
control the circumstances surrounding their
birth, they could control their present, and
determine their future. Pharez broke through
and changed his own destiny, and that of
generations after him. Hallelujah!
Although Zarah had a mark of greatness
already tied to his hands (the red scarlet
thread), it had to be removed because he drew
back and lost his position. Though he had
children, no specific reference was ever made
to his lineage or descendant ever again!
Did you know also that Achan who took the
'accursed thing' and brought trouble to the
camp of Israel, was actually a descendant of
Zarah! (Joshua 7:1, 24; 22:20).
Beloved, breakthroughs are not for
those who
cannot risk anything, or for those who always
procrastinate, or want success without
trouble. Those who breakthrough must be
spiritually aggressive (Matthew 11:12).
Wilt thou break through in your
life
time?
...wilt thou?
