The Man Called Breakthrough (II).
"And it came to pass, when she
travailed, that the one put out his hand: and
the midwife took and bound his hand a scarlet
thread, saying, This came first. And it came
to pass, as he drew back his hand, that
behold, his brother came out: and she said,
How hast thou broken forth? this breach be
upon thee: therefore his name was called
Pharez. And afterward came out his
brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his
hand: and his name was called Zarah."
(Genesis 38: 28-30)

Why did the boy who was coming out first draw
back, though he had made first contact with
the world?:
(a) Though he had a head start (an
advantage),
he probably felt the ambient temperature
outside his mother's womb was not perfect for
him.
(b) He felt that the prevailing
climate was
not friendly enough.
(c) He probably considered the
environment
was adverse to his existence.
(d) He must have judged that
the pain of
having to come out of his mother's womb and
pass through the cervix and birth canal was
going to be too much.
(e) He must have felt that the
discomfort of
the pelvic bones pressing against his head
and body was going to be too unbearable.
The truth folks, is that this individual
(Zarah) was a 'fair- weather'
brother. A
person who is always looking for favorable
conditions in life may never take a step
forward, ever!
"He that obseveth the
wind shall not
sow; and
he that regardeth the clouds shall not
reap."
(Ecclesiastes 11:4).
What was Zarah's problem?:
1. He gave up too
soon:- Though he
had the
opportunity of occupying the first position
of being special before God, and his dad, he
ended up failing (Exodus 13:12; Luke 21:23).
He was
'quarter-to-breakthrough' just
like so
many people who are always almost blessed,
almost fruitful, almost promoted, or almost
favored!
2. He could not take a
risk:- Though
his twin
brother Pharez had never been in the world
before; though he had never passed this way
before, he decided to take a risk and do what
Zarah would rather not do.
3. He procrastinated:-
Procrastination is a
major ingredient for failure in life. Even
the midwife was shocked, and asked questions
when she saw the the boy that first came out
fully: "...How hast thou broken
forth...?"
i.e. how did you make it; considering the
small passage, the stress and discomfort? She
continues by saying "...This
breach be upon
thee..." i.e. Let this mark of
breaking forth
(or breakthrough) be your identification mark
all the days of your life "...therefore his
name was called Pharez."
(meaning to break
out, burst out, spread abroad, or
'breakthrough' in the Hebrew tongue).
Glory
to God!
 (...to be continued...)
