The Refiner's Fire.
"But who may abide the day of his
coming? and
who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is
like a refiner's fire, and like fuller's
soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and
purifier of silver: and he shall purify the
sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and
silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an
offering in righteousness." (Malachi
3:2-3 -
KJV.).

Before we got born again we were all crude,
coarse and crooked (Isaiah 1:5-6). Though God
formed us, sin deformed us, school informed
us, but the Lord Jesus Christ came and
reformed us.
At the point of salvation, only our
spirit
was regenerated; however, our souls (or
minds) needed to constantly go through a
process of transformation (Romans 12:2;
Ephesians 4:22-25; Colossians 3:9- 10). Every
believer needs to undergo a process of
spiritual refining, much as gold or crude oil
goes
through a refining process.
By definition, to refine means to
purify; to
clarify; to get rid of impurities; to free
from coarseness or crudity; to treat, distill,
filter or polish so as to make more fine,
pure or cultured.
The spititual refinery is the place for
spiritual refining, and 'fire'
is the primary
agent used in God's refining process to
remove dross, chaff, spots, wrinkles,
blemishes and sins (Isaiah 1:25).
From time to time we ought to ask
ourselves:
just how refined are we since we came to know
the Lord? How refined are we in the the way
we think, talk and act? Are we still the same
old lousy, abusive, cussing, swearing, lying,
cheating, nasty, hateful, crooked, crude and
coarse
people we have always been?
I'm wondering, do we really have a
'before'
and 'after' picture of ourselves? Just
wondering...
