The Ministry of the Spirit (II).

In our previous teaching we saw that God's
work in salvation can be likened to
constructing a building, where the Father is
the Architect who plans the project;
the Son
is the Foreman or Construction
Superintendent
who gets the job done; and the Holy Spirit is
the Construction Workman who actually
does the
work of salvation.
It is the Holy Spirit that does the
work of
salvation in preparing the ground (the human
heart ), then builds the house (Salvation),
and keeps the building in repair (Progressive
sanctification).
Today we will attempt to complete the
exegesis of the three different phases in
which the ministries of the Holy Spirit can
be conceived:
3.The Post-conversion Ministries
of the Holy
Spirit:- We have seen that the ministries of
the Holy Spirit can be viewed from three
different perspectives: His Pre-conversion,
Conversion, and Post-conversion ministries.
In the post-conversion ministry, the Holy
Spirit fills us for service every time we ask
Him, just like an Administrative
Assistant is
available to perform a job until it is
completed. The Holy Spirit helps us in our
Christian lives and service. Apostle Paul
encourages us "Do not get your stimulus from
wine (for there is always the danger of
excessive drinking); but drink deeply of the
Spirit." (Eph. 5:18 - Phi., Wey.).
Next, He is our Sanctifier,
which means He
helps us become holy. The Spirit serves as a
search committee chairman who helps the group
select a leader, sets the leader apart, and
puts him in the place of prominence. A
two-fold action occurs when the Holy Spirit
sanctifies us. First, He sets us apart from
sin,and second, He sets us apart to
God. "But
all of us who are Christians have no veils on
our faces, but reflect like mirrors the glory
of the Lord. We are transfigured in
ever-increasing splendor into his own image,
and the transformation comes from the Lord
who s the Spirit." (II Cor. 3:18 - Phi.)
Again, the Holy Spirit is the
Illuminator who
illuminates the believer to see spiritual
truth. He is like the teacher who helps us
understand and apply the Word of God to our
lives. "We have not received the spirit that
belongs to this world, but the Spirit that
comes from God; that we might get insight
into the blessings God has graciously given
us." (I Cor. 2:12 - Wms.).
Finally, the Holy Spirit helps
believers to
pray, which is like an Attorney (or
Lawyer)
who presents our case before the judge. A
lawyer is usually hired by a defendant
because:
(a) The Lawyer knows the law,
(b) The
lawyer knows the legal system, and
(c) The
lawyer has the ability to argue (ie. present
logically) the matter before the judge.
The Holy Spirit is also the believer's
Intercessor who prays for the
believer, with
the believer, and in the place of the
believer. Why?...
"...for we do not even know what
prayer to
offer nor how to offer it worthily as we
ought: but the Spirit Himself intercedes on
our behalf with sighs too deep for words."
(Romans 8:26 - Amplfd., Ber.)
Hallelujah!
