The 3-day program to mark the 4th anniversary
of the Christ Life Ministries in
Newark, New Jersey held from Friday January
30, to Sunday February 1, 2009. The Bishop of
the Ministry Rev. Julius Abiola was
in attendance together with all the ministers
from all branches of the ministry.
Within the context of the theme:
"The Pursuit of His Presence", Dr.
Brown took three teachings "A Place by
Me", "Who is this?",
and "Peter's Shadow." It was a
most blessed time as the man of God led the
brethren to bask in the awesome presence of
the Almighty.
To God be the glory!

IF MY PEOPLE ...
"And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt....He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done...And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words" (Matthew 26:39,42,44).

...Not many days hence.
"For John truly baptized with water ;
but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost
not many days hence." (Acts 1:5).

Before his departure, Jesus assured his
disciples that he would send the Father's
promise (the Holy Spirit) 'upon' them; and
upon his arrival, they should expect to be
endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49;
Joel 2:28; Acts 1:8).
When the Spirit of God comes 'upon'
the believer in a baptismal measure, he is
both filled, and baptized (buried or
immersed). A sure sign of the 'upon'
experience is the ability to speak with new
tongues.
"And they were all filled with
the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with
other tongues, as the Spirit gave them
utterance." (Acts 2:4).
The evidence of having genuinely
received Holy Ghost baptism is the divine
ability to speak in tongues (Acts 10:44-48;
19:1-7).
Tongues therefore can be viewed as:
1. A sign accompanying the
Spirit's baptism (Acts 2:4).
2. A gift (I Corinthians 12:10).
The 'upon' experience (baptism in the
Holy Spirit) is indeed the most powerful and
exhilarating thing for the child of God.
The baptism of the Spirit, and the
subsequent ability to speak with new tongues
is an experience that every believer must
look forward to:
[A.] Speaking with tongues is a
direct hotlink to the throne of God.
"For he that speaketh in an
unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but
unto God: for no man understandeth him;
howbeit in the spirit he speaketh
mysteries." (I Corinthians 14:2).
It is much like transmitting
information in encrypted codes. This
practically bypasses and confounds every
enemy line because they cannot comprehend
what you're saying!
[B.] Speaking in tongues is for
personal edification.
"He that speaketh in an unknown
tongue edifieth himself..."(I
Corinthians 14:4).
To 'edify' means to instruct,
improve, enlighten, inform, educate, nurture,
teach, charge, or build up (Jude 20).
For the child of God, praying in the
Spirit (or in tongues) is a sure means of:
(a) personal reviving of your
spirit man.
(b) developing your inner man.
(c) gathering spiritual stamina
against
the days of adversity.
"If thou faint in the day of
adversity, thy strength is small."
(Proverbs 24:10).

Holy Humor.
A man and his ever-nagging wife went on
vacation to Jerusalem. While they were there,
the Wife passed away.
The undertaker told the husband "You
can have her shipped home for $5,000, or you
can bury her here, in the Holy Land, for
$150." The man thought about it and told him
he would just have her shipped home.
The undertaker asked, "Why would you
spend $5,000 to ship your wife home, when it
would be wonderful to be buried here and you
would spend only $150?"
The man replied, "Long ago a man
died here, was buried here, and three days
later he rose from the dead. I just can't
take that chance."
